I’m calling now, if they trade Noah, Cano will also be in the deal.

Noah and Cano (plus all his money)

for

Garcia and Ellsbury

The Mets probably could move Cano but it would require them to take back Wil Myers and I’m not sure that would be a wise swap even if others would be involved.

If we're really serious about trading Noah, we should be trading everyone except for McNeil, Alonso, and maybe Smith. Team isn't going very far with a rotation of deGrom, Matz, and nobody for the foreseeable future.

Meh, I'm keeping deGrom, McNeil, Alonso, Nimmo, Rosario and Diaz. Everyone else can go of various degrees.

I'd keep deGrom, McNeil, Alonso., and Diaz. I'd like to keep Conforto but he is one of the few guys who could bring something back. Smith looks good but he's a first baseman.Nimmo and Davis are interesting but far from untouchable

Third of the night. He seems to like hitting in that lineup.

Maybe Brodie can use this as a selling point?

everyone I trade or dump performs above expectations - here, take Matz, he will no doubt win 20 games and a CY Young for you

Rosario? That’s your top of the lineup stud for the next 10 years!

Cano? You might as well Rewind the clock 10 years!

I'm not buying for 1 second that the Mets are loathe to deal Noah. Brodie is a wheeler dealer. We saw that last winter. He will be open for business over the next 2 weeks. No doubt.

There's absolutely no urgency to deal Noah, though. He's got another two years of control. If you don't get a crazy haul for him, don't deal him. We still need pitching. If we're replacing three pitchers this off-season I'm not sure I could even try to predict the 2020 rotation.

People keep saying this and I don't understand it. Yes, there is an urgency to deal Noah because if you aren't re-signing him to an extension (they probably aren't), you're chance of getting a big return back diminishes with every season you keep him.

That he's having the worst season of his career also diminishes his value. If he bounces back next season you could still get an absolute haul for him next deadline.

Yeah, he could get hurt, but you could make that case for any player.

It doesn't make a ton of sense that fans seem to expect a Noah trade but Conforto's name is rarely brought up. They're FAs in the same season.

That's the thing, you really can't. The way teams hold on to prospects, you're better off getting him with two years left on his deal, let alone the cost uncertainty as Syndergaard gets closer to free agency. Not moving Syndergaard because you worry about the 2020 season and pitching is missing the point. This is not a team that will contend and needs to reshuffle the roster.

As far as Conforto is concerned, Bats in the winter, Arms in the summer. They should trade him this winter after an offer is extended and declined.

It seems that people can’t even define what a “haul” should be in this case.
