The Rumble Ponies are in my neck of the woods, so I am heading to Bowie tonight to watch them take on the Baysox.

Baty is 2 for 4 with a 2-run homer.

Poor Msrio Mendoza, the guy didn't hit. 200, he hit a solid .215. Former Met great Dave Schneck hit .199 for his career. It should be the Schneck line.

The power is definitely translating with Baty

21 of 33 hits have been for extra bases

But the k rate is way worse than I was expecting

Would you take Gallo as a comp? Not saying hes as good, just a quick profile of him with the little knowledge I have

They got crushed.

It's hard for me to worry about anyone's rookie ball numbers but that strikeout rate is worrisome.

I'm sure this has been mentioned elsewhere, but Rajai Davis did not play yesterday for Syracuse a day after hitting a grand slam.

Have a strong feeling Rajai is on his way.

Also, before anyone gets too crazy here, want to point out that Rajai has been a pretty poor hitter in AAA this year compared to league, much worse than Tejada and Altherr at the same level for context, and has been really poor offensively his last 2 runs through the majors in 17 and 18, so this is very unlikely to help much on the bench

Can confirm.

Was excited to at least see Gimenez, but I didn't come away super wowed. The two errors didn't help: one was trying to rush a throw on a double play attempt, and one was just booted. Had a nice double down the first base line, but overall didn't get any special vibe from him. Just one game, obviously.

The other general thing I noted is that the team was basically silent in the dugout -- very little in the way of encouragement or chatter, even from coaches. (I was in the first row behind the dugout.)

Bowie's a fun little stadium, in case anyone was curious. The mascot did try to eat me though.

Yeah .. you start looking at high k-rate / high power type players as a comp.

But its his 1st taste of pro-ball so you don't want to read too much into it.

I'm going to be curious to see scouts first impressions on his defense at 3rd .. I have this feeling like he can stick at 3rd (which would be pretty huge)
