Man we’re about a year away and rebounding performance away from that even becoming remotely possible. The contract was always seen as bad but now this season takes the cat out of the bag as far as the age regression is concerned. Before this year you could ( and I did!) reasonably claim that he was an outlier, no signs of decline, etc.
Now he’s in Pujols territory. Nobody is swapping a bad contract for that because other than the aforementioned Pujol, there really isn’t anything close to as bad of a contract. Danny Duffy is a backend starter being paid like a mid rotation guy. Cano is now an albatross being paid like an all star. Major difference.
