We're winning 6-1 going into the 9th. McNeil homered on first pitch. Cano homered again. deGrom pulled for a PH in the 6th after 93 pitches.

Good that Cano is hitting

We need to get something out of him

The idea that the Mets will treat him like a sunk cost is not going to happen

The best thing that can happen is that he tears it up the 2nd half ... and maybe you can eat half the money and trade him in the offseason ?

Can we play the Marlins the rest of the season?

He's a core guy because he's getting money. It will help if he can contribute in the meantime.

From John Harper..

“Catching up w/more Callaway nonsense: pre-game he told press Rosario was getting a scheduled day off (3rd game after A-S break) but then told team broadcasters he benched the SS for not running out a fly ball. And afterward wouldn't own his decision. The guy still doesn't get it.”

How do you justify benching your shortstop for not running out one play when your second baseman never hustles?

Presumably that was the ball that dropped between Riddle and Anderson. Yeah Rosario should have made it to 2B easily on that. I was annoyed about it at the time. I’m glad he was benched for that. Now let’s see Mickey bench Cano for not running hard.

But can we talk about this team’s inability to put any crooked numbers on the board? No matter how many runners they get on, they can’t get a big hit to save their lives. I looked at this recently and it was something like 4 or more runs in an inning 4 times all season iirc..? The Yankees do that like 4 times a week. It’s maddening.
