The bullpen was electric tonight. Is Diaz our worst reliever?

Great game --- very good Matz, lots of hits, a couple of long balls and good bullpen!

Pirates put up a 4 spot on the Nats in the 8th (still batting). 4-1 Pirates.

Sewald looks like he ditched that weird quasi sidearm angle he adopted last year, vélo back up and looks more like the guy he was in 17. Good.

Sewald, Avilan, Brach have looked good.

Wilson, Lugo have pitched well all season. Familia has allowed 2 runs in his last 9 outings spanning 9 innings with 12ks (still walking too many with 6 but just 1hr). both runs were given up in blowup games in meaningless innings....

Regan has almost finished the job....Can he do the impossible and fix Diaz? if he does, this might be the best coaching job i have ever seen.

Familia really looks like he's closer to his old self. Diaz still has time to turn a corner. Bullpen won't be a strength but maybe won't be a tire fire.

I like going with Rajai, gives you a ton of speed as the 25th guy on the roster for 10 more days. good move not just going the extra 8th arm.

Mets have been fairly well rested with off days, pen is ok, and starters going deep. go with a balacned team for 10 more days and see what happens.

I honestly think its a mistake they are activating Nimmo so fast. Syracuse has 13 games left, let him play in all of them and come up early Sept. There should be no rush for him. Same for McNeil, get him 3-4 games in Syracuse and call him up Sept 1st. Lowrie should play every minor league game possible and only come up when he gets all his ABs/ innings in the feild in as well included extended games as well. all should be post sept 1st callups imo.

Just got back from the game. Team is firing on all cylinders now and it’s fun to watch. The way things unfolded into late July, I never expected to be going to meaningful games this deep into the season but here we are watching exciting baseball. This is what some of us thought they could be entering the season until they did their annual May/June face plant.

I know it’s one game but this could turn out to be a big week if they can keep playing at a high level. They know these are the teams they’re going to have to beat if they get to the playoffs so I think they’re prepared to play. And I think this is no longer the team they were in June. They’ve clearly turned the page.

Panik was a nice pick up

Yes it was. I was def wrong about it. It’s good having several bats in the lineup who you know will put the ball in play. Can’t argue with good fundies.
