If a rookie is the Cy Young winner, then he's almost certainly going to be the rookie of the year as well.
It's very, very unlikely that a pitcher like Soroka wins the Cy Young but loses out on the rookie of the year.
Cy Young award winners are in the 7+ WAR range.
Rookie of the Year award winners are in the 4+ WAR range.
Soroka would win the ROY in most years. The fact that there's a rookie who leads the league in HR has nothing to do with Soroka's Cy Young credentials.
I mean.........both put up comparable numbers but it's clear deGrom has done slightly better. Only reason they would give it to Flaherty is because deGrom won it last year at this point.
