At this rate, they'll have their manager after the 7th round interview finalists are vetted.

You literally said it is easier to believe Martino either said it FACETIOUSLY (meaning, it was not a real quote, but he has now left it out there as such for a whole day) or "pulled it out of somewhere" (again, meaning, made it up) than it is to believe that, as Martino said, "One person connected to team has said a “bombshell candidate” is in the mix if a clear favorite does not emerge from the current group."

That is insane. But hey, I guess as long as YOU, "critical judger", find it "hard to believe", it must make it so. I mean, the Mets never do things that look weird, or out of the norm, or are the product of poor decision making processes.

Aaah ok.

Which is when they finally turn to the "BOMBSHELL."

Adam Rubin, with Tony Bernazard as bench coach.

Pamela Anderson?

The concept of how Martino framed it is that this “bombshell” is essentially the final measuring stick this group needs to be compared against. If they don’t measure up- they go “BOMBSHELL.” LOL.

Which means it’s someone they don’t need to interview, someone they know will take the job if offered, etc.

Realistically that means it’s someone in house. So IMO it’s one of 3 people:

Terry Collins
Jessica Mendoza
Brodie Van DoubleDuty who is watching his buddy AJ Hinch and thinking “I can do that.”

I’ve seen Todd Zeile or Ron Darling speculation too but I’m curious why those guys wouldn’t be in the regular interview pool.

Anyway- it wouldn’t be a Mets production if it didn’t have the possibility of nonsense.

Benigno and Roberts mentioned those names as well a Bobby V as speculative "BOMBSHELL" candidates.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

Some in the industry having fun with this (as they should be)...

@StevePhillipsGM
Just wanted to end the speculation before rumors started, “I am not the bombshell candidate for Mets manager!”
