What the heck do the Astros need with Conforto? They already have like nine thousand OF’ers.

Beltran says, "you'd have to listen."

An NL executive predicted Pirates third base coach Joey Cora and Mariners bench coach Manny Acta would receive consideration based on their relationship with Minaya. In their last managerial search, the Mets interviewed Acta, who has managed the Nationals and Indians. Another possibility from the last managerial search (which yielded Callaway following the 2017 season) is McEwing, the White Sox bench coach. McEwing has a strong advocate in David Wright, who serves as an adviser to Van Wagenen.

They're gonna blow this, aren't they?

The good news is the last few managerial searches yielded the following absolutes:

1. Wally Backman is the absolute best choice (2011)
2. Bob Melvin is the absolute worst (2011)
3. Mickey Callaway is such a breath of fresh air, can't believe we got this one so right! (2017)

So based off that, if we go with someone we all understand to be terrible, maybe it'll work out!?

Reality is who the heck really knows who the next best manager out there is. Any one they pick is a crapshoot. Joey Cora might be great. Who the heck knows. A lot of us out there thought Callaway was a great choice when he was hired too.

Is this really a question? Of course they will...if they end up getting it right, it will be blind luck despite themselves.

'The Coupons' will hire their best perceived candidate from the bargain bin of candidates, spit shine him up, and tell us "we were very fortunate to have him available to us"(or some such nonsense). I hope they prove me wrong but seeing is believing with these clowns. Do the right thing Jeff & Brodie, whoever that may be.

I like Dusty. He's won everywhere he's went. Just can't win the big one. Which means he's either due or the Mets should stay far away from him

AJ Pierzinskiorwhatevrr is hinting pretty hard at Girardi to the Mets. Terrible source and the jokes are stale at best and offer nothing to the broadcast— except it does spare the dear viewer from another gaze into “What would Joe Girardi do if he were managing both teams simultaneously right now??”— but I think it’s done. Francessar downplayed it today saying they will talk to everybody. He’s keyed in though and knows it’s Girardi to the Mets. It’s why he said Girardi to the Cubs. So he can claim he knew all along and Joe’s uh winnah and uh classy guy and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh back after this. Joe Himself talked up the Mets and knew the players cursory statistics, which is way more than any national color guy I've ever heard. Did the classic, This team is underperforming and could be a winner, which the Wilpon’s eat up. Any chance of biting off the glory of other team’s success gets the Wilpon’s freakin hot. Nothing makes Fred giddier than proven winners coming here to lose. It’s like he doesn’t know. People take your money, Fred. They take it and do a crappy job because they are being paid too handsomely for years spent in service of other teams. And that’s the honest ones. Fred has no problem buying snakeoil by the barrel either. Brodie’s hire is pretty much jumping the shark at this point, but I’ll stick it out. I’m too invested in the characters and storylines. And everyone loves a good Villain. The Yankees ain’t going nowhere. Keeps the Mets relevant.
