I think BA and maybe Fangraphs do more scouting and might be a bit more accurate, but I like Am-Ave's lists because, like the Toby lists of a few years back, they're public and they go into some detail about each player.

BA, for example is higher on Alvarez, and I think that goes beyond just his stats but actually watching the 17 year old and seeing real potential, and they're lower on Gimenez, . . . which for the record, I might disagree with them on that, I'm thinking Gimenez might be one of my break-out candidates for this year, I'm predicting an uptick with the bat. Based on nothing but a hunch, but I'm putting it out there.

BA's top 10 from November:

Mauricio
Alvarez
Baty
Allan
Gimenez
Vientos
Szapucki
Wolf
Smith
Peterson

Amazin Ave's top 25 - I'm posting links to save time, I may go through and edit later

1. Mauricio: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/30/ ... o-new-york

2. Gimenez: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/29/ ... es-gimenez

3. Allen: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/28/ ... g-new-york

4. Baty: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/27/ ... brett-baty

5. Vientos: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/24/ ... e-new-york

6. Alvarez: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/23/ ... co-alvarez

7. Peterson https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/22/ ... g-new-york

8. Szapucki https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/21/ ... 0-new-york

9. Kilome https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/20/ ... g-new-york

10. Newton: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/17/ ... yen-newton

11. Wolf: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/16/ ... 0-new-york

12. Smith: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/15/ ... evin-smith

13. (this one surprises me a little) Harol Gonzalez: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/14/ ... z-new-york I'd love to be wrong.

14. 6'8 "Junior" Santos: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/13/ ... g-new-york

15 Freddie Valdez - one to keep an eye on for sure when short season starts in 2020. Brooklyn or Kingsport?? https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/10/ ... ddy-valdez At just 17 years old, this boy's still growing.

16. Infielder Jaylen Palmer: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/9/2 ... len-palmer

17 Dibrell: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/8/2 ... ny-dibrell

18. Daison Acosta: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/7/2 ... 0-pitching

19. Ryan Gilliam. https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/6/2 ... ey-gilliam I like Gilliam for his high floor and shot at majors this year. I might put him a little higher.

20. Adrian Hernandez, who basically missed last year and only played 4 games in GCL, he hit a homer and stole 2 bases, so the tools seem to be there. Built like a running back and just 5'9, but some speed, some power and a 1.5 million dollar bonus. I get a "could break either way" vibe, based on nothing at all. A potential bounce back player this year.

21. Dedniel Nunez.

I just gotta say, wow, the lower level players and young low-A players are outnumbering the upper levels considerably so far. Moving on:

22. Stanley Consuegra (the kind of Juan Lagares comp if I remember right, 500K signing)

23. Ali Sanchez

https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/2/2 ... -consuegra

24. Jake Magnum

25. Alexander Ramirez (2.05 million 2019 signee, hasn't played yet even in DSL). Players who haven't played yet are basically impossible to rank IMHO, but based on 2 million dollars, I don't have a proble with top 25, even top 20.

and honorable mentions (there's lots of them)

https://www.amazinavenue.com/2020/1/31/ ... o-new-york

Players like Gonsalvez and Lockett, to me, tend to get overlooked. 40 man roster spots indicate some upside. I'd have both those guys ahead of Harol Gonzalez for example.

I want to like Desmond Lindsay but I have doubts. Tools are still good. Still in consideration for top 30.

And I think they're underselling Humphreys a bit considering there was talk about rule 5'ing him.

A final callout to sleeper lefty Franklin Parra, a high school draftee with some upside. Needs to get the walks under control. Not top 25 for me, but consideration for top 30.

Robert Dominguez who's 99 mph for a good sized 18 year old has gotten attention.

I still like Carlos Cortes as a top 25 guy. Bat has enough upside

Too small a sample size but Travis Fryman hit the ball well in Brooklyn where most players don't.

Jose Moreno is another high velocity guy and velocity never hurts.

Thoughts? Who did they miss? Who did they undersell?
