ok, a couple nice easy blowouts in the first 2 rounds. Just what the doctor ordered. It's very good to see them get their confidence and swagger back, hopefully Calhoun doesn't let it get to their head.
Purdue is up next in the Sweet 16. Solid team with good fundamentals that seems to be playing it's best at the right time of year.
If Price can keep rolling from outside and give them some penetration, Robinson can continue to emerge as a legitimate offense force and Adrien hits that little jumper and imposes his will in the post I like our chances. When Robinson is playing aggressively on offense they don't seem nearly as stagnant at that end.
Thabeet must stay out of foul trouble. The entire UConn defense is predicated on Thabeet being a presence inside. The guards play tight D and if they get beat they're just supposed to funnel the driver into the paint. When it's Gavin Edwards back there, it just doesn't have the same effect.
ugh, doesn't look good. Hopefully this isn't as serious as the Yahoo article is making it out to be.
Unfortunately all too often when there's smoke there's fire and the last thing you want is an NCAA investigation into your program.
I'm hoping for the best but really fearful of the worst.
It's true

For the first time in the history of the Adrien, Price, Thabeet core, UConn has won a big time game.
That was awesome.
FINAL FOUR BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Kemba Walker.
Thank you Stanley Robinson for developing so much this year.
The development of these 2 are exactly what this team needed with Dyson going down.

I was really impressed with Missouri today. They never went away and they are really fast and deep.
I'm happy this was one of those games where UConn made shots down the stretch to clinch it, as opposed to mistakes being made by Missouri.
Austrie was so solid today. Price took over when he had to, at this point you can see he's the unquestioned leader of that team. Walker was the MVP today. With the play of those 3 guards, I didn't think UConn was really disrupted too much by the pressure of Missouri...at least not in the backcourt. I think their experience with Louisville helped them immensly in this game.
If Thabeet would learn to not dribble the basketball in the post, his offensive game would grow by leaps and bounds. He has a that little baby hook in his arsenal, when he catches it in the post he should just pivot around and put the shot up. Everytime he dribbles he gets stripped. He'll have to learn in the NBA.
Hopefully Adrien can find his shot again by next weekend. But he is a man on the glass, what a strong defensive and offensive performance.
When Thabeet is not in foul trouble, UConn is the best defensive team in the country. Edwards has been giving UConn valuable minutes and I've really been happy with his play as well, but when Thabeet is in there, it's just so hard to score on this team.

Difficult end to a bit of an up and down season.
There were several times in the game where I thought UConn was starting to take control and then MSU would go on a 5 or 6 point run to grab it back.
When UConn had a strong possession that ended with a dunk, too often there appeared to be a little too much self appreciation and not enough getting back on D. Then MSU would break out and get an easy bucket to answer right back.
Price didn't give them anything with regard to permiter shooting and Austrie was pretty much a non-factor as well.
I thought their inside play was pretty solid, but they just couldn't get to any loose balls...and I don't know that it was a lack of effort, they seemed to be getting after it but the ball just didn't seem to bounce their way sometimes. I guess maybe that fits into the category of the MSU "wanting it more".
I knew all season that at some point free throw shooting was going to hurt them and last night was the night. They were atrocious from the stripe. They missed the front end of the 1 and 1 so many times which is like missing two free throws. It just killed rallies so many times and MSU was smart, they decided they wouldn't give up easy points on the fast break, just grab a guy and make UConn hit em from the line and UConn couldn't come through.
Kemba Walker after being so good in the elite 8 was just pressing out there. Couldn't hit a free throw to save his life and then in the final 2 minutes took the last glimmering hope UConn had and stomped it out.

Well the 2009/2010 season will very much be determined by what goes on with this investigation.
If things turn out ok, and UConn loses some scholarships and goes on probation for a few years then they should be a competitive top 25 team with some good experience that will help them late in the season. But certainly not Big East or National Title contender level.
I see a potential starting lineup of Walker, Dyson, Robinson, Edwards and Majok.
Majok is the one who's eligibility is up in the air because I believe he was involved with the same agent Nate Miles was involved with. If he's eligible I've heard very good things about him.
I think that can be a solid 5, but they are missing depth and a outside shooter. Calhoun will have to develop Scottie Haralson and Donnell Beverly to give them some depth at guard. I don't know what they're going to do about depth in the front court.
