It would be nice if a moderator that deletes your post gives you a curiosity pm with their reasoning. I think it would help prevent resentment that the mod is playing favorites and maybe remove the perception that their is a "tier" system on this board.
Thanks

It would also be nice if mods didn't ever have to delete posts. We do this voluntarily as a service to the NYFS community. And quite frankly, we spend too much time dealing with the BS of moderating -- deleting, editing, all that crap -- and it's not fun. I'd like to put as little time into moderating as possible. It should be pretty obvious why posts are deleted.

It probably should be obvious why a post is deleted but its not obvious what the reasoning may be to KEEP another equally questionable post. If one of the points of deleting a post is to prevent something from escalating, why leave any of the successive posts? It just leaves an air of playing favorites. Thats the clarification pm I'm referring to.
Thanks

Lots of folks think they are being singled out.
Think about it.

One of the fundamentals in our society is that, when someone is punished for breaking a rule, they are told which rule they broke. Not only is this a civilized way to deal with such a situation, but it allows the person the opportunity to make sure s/he does not repeat the same offense in the future.
Really, a PM would only take 15 seconds and it would help make this feel like more of a community.

Actually, a PM takes more than 15 seconds. It takes a while to try to write it without being antagonizing, and it inevitably turns into a back and forth dialogue that can sometimes take days. If I'm deleting a post, I'm already annoyed enough that I don't want to have to deal with it further. I've had to get into backs and forths with people about it, and you know what, it can ruin your day if someone wants to be antagonistic about it.
If a post is deleted and you can't figure out why, PM a mod and we'll get you an answer.

To follow up, sometimes a thread needs to be "cleaned up". Which means several posts need to be dealt with. Now you're multiplying the work that needs to be done to deal with the problem.

The problem with that is there is no record of which mod deleted your post. I would gladly initiate a pm if there was a record.
Maybe you guys should assign a go-to mod for everyone. For instance, screen names A-D to one mod, E-H to another, and so on. Just a thought.

PM your favorite mod. We have ways of finding things out behind the curtain. Ask the question, let the mods find the answer.

This has worked very well for me whenever I've had a problem.

Same here. I have a couple mods I go to whenever I've had an issue/problem with stuff here.

I find this talk about Kelenic comical. He's a 19 year old kid who hit .253 at Kingsport and struck out once a game and people are talking like he's the second coming. Get real people. When you have a chance to get the best reliever in the game who's only 24 and give up Kelenic in the deal, you MAKE that deal. Stop with the nonsense.
