I really don't understand the wholier-than-thou posts that usually come right after one poster or writer is critical of the Mets organization. 99% have nothing to do with the topic of the thread and everything to do with the poster/writer's state of mind (ie: negative). It adds nothing to the discussion of said topic and just causes resentment imo.

While I realize its easier for mods to patrol the "negative" style posts, can there be a concerted effort to monitor the posts that have nothing to do with the topic.

I'm not trying to single out anyone but this is what I'm talking about in the Buster Olney thread, which asks a fairly decent question about Reyes' ability moving forward:



Posts like this add nothing to the conversation imo and only cause resentment since maybe there are people that would like to reasonably discuss the topic but are turned off by the preemptive bashing of their pov.

Calling another posters pov "irrational" has to be cracked down on too imo. Thats really no different than calling someone crazy. You're basically saying, without any proof, that the other poster hasn't carefully thought out their response.

i 100% disagree.

there are opinions that are dumb, and while it may edge the line and shouldn't be abused, people should be able to state that an opinion is dumb/irrational etc.


for example...

if you said "David Wright is the 5th best 3b overall in baseball"

I can say I disagree, and that communicates my opinion.

but...

if you say "David Wright is the 600th best hitter in baseball"

me saying "i disagree" does not properly communicate my response. Because not only do I disagree, but the level to which I disagree becomes important. In that instance "this post is absolutely ridiculous" is entirely appropriate.

Not to call you out, but I noticed you mention getting personal in a lot of your responses. My feeling is that you might be being a little sensitive.

You've seen it where I will blast one of your posts in one thread, and embrace aother in another thread. It's not personal. No need to treat it as such.

and finally

calling an opinion or a post irrational isn't saying that they haven;t thought out their response, per se. It's saying one of a vast myriad of negative possibilities about the post. LOL. But if you're discussing ideas, and you want intellectual honesty in the discussion, you can't really limit someone commenting harshly on a post or opinion. I realize people can be sensitive about their own posts or opinions, but that's when you just have to back it up.

and saying "this post is ridiculous" is 100% different from saying "you are ridiculous."
