I have windows 8 and have had issues here lately. Get the NYFS banner then the rest a blue page. I hit refresh several times in a row and the page will usually load.

Did somebody just fix this problem? I've been having the same problem as everyone else--in fact, today is the first time I was able to get into the forums long enough to find this thread and learn, to my great relief, that others were having the problem, too--it wasn't just my computer.
Anyway, all of a sudden today, while I was struggle with it, the whole site started working again. Did somebody disable the ad that seemed to be triggering the problem?

No good. I was OK, then that fantasy football ad came up and I was stuck. I guess I'll stay with mobile mode for now.

It seems intermittent. Until ESPN stops gumming up the system, I guess we're stuck with it - doing everything via the mobile mode at this point.
By the way - given my distasted for ESPN, I'm not going their anymore for sports updates - the league webpages are generally better, unless you like soccer, women's basketball, or other less mainstream sports - in which case, ESPN's coverage is generally pretty good.

Apparently my internal editor switched off on that last post as well. I wonder if I can trade myself in for an upgrade...sigh.

Unbelievable, it's been four days and no one has disabled that ESPN add yet.

it's more complicated than that. the vendor that is supplying the ad is buying ad space, from several other vendors and re-selling it in bulk, circumventing the ability to block the specific ad via any individual vendor or ad URL, without blocking a big swath of legit ads that pay the bills here.
it's not 100% clear if it's the ad, or the Flash technology they're using in the ad, it doesn't affect 100% of the people 100% of the time, it doesn't only affect one operating system or one browser so it's difficult to just say " do 'this' and it will solve the problem."
I've tried a couple of things to block it without blocking everything, and only had partial success so far.
It's not specific to the site, nothing has changed here in the last week or so that might have created the problem, I've definitely isolated it as being outside my or my direct vendors ability to easily control, so continue to post as to whether or not you have issues here in the meantime and I will continue to search for ways to circumvent the jerk ad technology people.
You'll also find a link to the mobile style at the bottom of every page, so if you're having a really bad time connecting, just hit that and ride the text only wave for a couple of days until it straightens itself out or I take more drastic action.

I'm still having frequent issues, but switched to mobile view and that seems to work fine for the time being.

I had the same issues as most others. Seemed to be only the ESPN ad. Today is better. Seems to be only happening half the time the ESPN ad is up there. Then if I wait a minute and hit refresh it will show me the threads/posts. Thanks for all your work on this!
