Post subject:  How to make a "Long URL" link

I've seen a few people ask recently how to make that shortened link. I'm gonna do my best to explain it...

Quote:
cut and paste the url into the post. You can do one of two things:

1. go to the beginning of the url and make the following additions:

[ url=url of your choice] LONG URL [ /url]
^ There should be no space here. I only added it to show the code.

2. hightlight the url, click the url tag under subject and then make the edit above.

Make sure the first part of the tag is equal to the url and closed after the url and make sure you close the url tag after your text description.

Did this make sense? If not, ask questions, I'll try to explain it better.

Can you create a pop up window that does it for you, that is what happens on another board I post at.

I'm sure we'll consider that, however, downside is that the majority of people use pop up blockers and, more importantly, the site is automatically downgraded with pop ups because of the way spyders look at the site.

hmmm, not sure about this. Is there an easier way to do hyperlinking?

As always you're right.

Indeed I am lazy when it comes to my linking.
