NYFS continues to grow and survive thanks to the contributions of it's members. That means you and everyone that uses NYFS every day.
Every member should contribute to the content. All of the content, stats, data, player information, photographs, news, scores, rosters, etc., etc are added to, edited, and updated by the people who use the site.
Write at least one Blurb about one player who was your favorite or is your favorite...do a little research, add to the depth of the content.
You can use the Blurb tool to write news or player stories or opinions about the team and players and the game to add to the content:
Please PM me if you would like to volunteer to work as an NYFS Historian and participate in maintaining the player records and recording the history of the organization.
Every member should keep an updated NYFS profile. Updating your profile creates a sense of community and mutual respect because we become people with names and faces and home towns instead of anonymous virtual characters. Go to a game together. We never sell your info or spam you. We customize content for you based on your zipcode data, like finding Mets games and other users near you. Update Your Profile with a current photo, check out other users photos and find other NYFS USers in your neighborhood.
Every member should keep Participate In The Community:
There are only two types of ads on NYFS that require a click for it to support NYFS.
The photos on the home page, the galleries, and on the profile pages are a great way everyone can support NYFS with little or no time/effort/cost.
The big banner ad areas are mostly pay per view ads, however the display ads throughout the site occasioanlly show text ads that are also pay-per-click ads:
Click the ads that interest you. By supporting the sponsors that support the site, it keeps our community growing and makes sponsoring NYFS more valuable to the companies that support us.
So any of you folks with Blogs can now host them for free at NYFS.
NYFSBlogs.com is just a Blog hosting platform. It doesn't have to be a Mets Blog or baseball or sports...it can be, but it doesn't have to be, it can be whatever you want it to.
There are a couple of banners in the template that generate support for the Community, but the rest of the system is the WordPress engine. You can import your Blog from most of the major freebies. You'll likely get better performance, because you have a bigger chunk of better server resources dedicated to your blog here.
So if you have ablog or always wanted to try one, head over to http://www.nyfsblogs.com and signup and try it out.
I put in a photo upload/gallery tool you can use for free to replace photobucket or tripod images to host your avatars and whatnot here on our server, make them easily accessible, make your photos in albums/galleries, etc. for other users.
Keeps your info safe, makes the site faster, and gives everyone an opportunity to share their photos and avatars they make. It should eliminate some of the borken image links from bandwidth being exceeded, as well as archiving avatars, so we have a gallery of all the great photoshop stuff people do here.
There's a link to it at the top of every page:
You can store any or all of your photos, for use here or elsewhere, it will give you the code to insert the image here into the boards, by simple copy/paste in a text box under each image you upload.
Any photo you upload also creates a correctly sized NYFS avatar as a thumbnail, and gives you the URL of the avatar-sized version so you can upload any size photo, cut and paste it into your boards profile, and store your avatars there without having to resize them yourself.
And it also provides simple copy/paste code box for inserting-into-myspace code so you can send your photos in Bulletins or stick them into your myspace page easily.
