Hey guys, for all of you who don't remember, I'm Static's buddy, and the Albuquerque Isotopes for the NYFS keeper league.

Anywho, I just drafted a couple leagues, both of them H2H keeper leagues (we get to keep 5,) with normal 5x5 scoring categories (AVG, R, HR, RBI, SB, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP). I'm not really looking for keeper advice, at least not until the end of the season, but I'm hoping to get some objective opinions on these teams. So I'll post my teams, and give tell you where in the draft I got these guys in parentheses.

This one is in a 12-team league:

C - Geovany Soto (ChC) (198)
1B - Alex Gordon (KC) (115)
2B - BJ Upton (TB) (30)
3B - Miguel Cabrera (Det) (6)
SS - Troy Tulowitzki (Col) (54)
OF - Carlos Lee (Hou) (19)
OF - Curtis Granderson (Det) (43)
OF - Chris Young (Ari) (91)
UTIL - Willy Taveras (Col) (187)
B - Michael Cuddyer, OF (Min) (174)
B - Yunel Escobar, 2B, 3B, SS (Atl) (235)
B - Evan Longoria, 3B (TB) (246)

SP - Scott Kazmir (TB) (78 )
SP - Felix Hernandez (Sea) (67)
RP - Bobby Jenks (CWS) (126)
RP - Chad Cordero (Was) (150)
P - Jonathan Broxton, RP (LAD) (222)
P - John Maine, SP (NYM) (163)
P - Rich Hill, SP (ChC) (102)
B - Chad Billingsley, SP (LAD) (139)
B - Homer Bailey, SP (CIN) (211)

With this league, I think my pitching is in decent shape, I just have to see if Homer Bailey is going to make the starting rotation or not. But there's plenty of pitching in the FA pool, and if he doesn't, I can either keep him stashed away for a midseason call-up or drop him for someone else. As for my hitting, I think if I can get .280 with 22 HR from Gordon, I'll be ok, but I still want to get another first baseman, at least someone to back him up, but other than Bailey if he doesn't make the team, there really isn't anybody who I'm looking to drop, so I'm trying to trade Cuddyer or Taveras (either by themselves or as part of a package) for another first baseman. If I can't pull that off, I can still part with one of my other outfielders to make the trade, but I think I'd rather not.

**edit: It appears that Bailey isn't going to make the rotation, and even though nothing's definite yet, I dropped him. Someone dropped John Lackey, so I was hoping to nab him and stash him on the DL, but the guy one spot ahead of me on the waiver priority list picked him up, so I decided to pick up Rich Harden instead. Hopefully he can figure out a way to stay healthy.

Ok, here's the other team, it's part of a 10-team league, so the team will look a little more stacked, just keep that in mind:

C - Russell Martin (LAD) (54)
1B - Mark Teixeira (Atl) (27)
2B - Chase Utley (Phi) (7)
3B - Aramis Ramirez (ChC) (34)
SS - Miguel Tejada (Hou) (74)
OF - Grady Sizemore (Cle) (14)
OF - Juan Pierre (LAD) (127)
OF - Nick Swisher (CWS) (134)
UTIL - Kevin Kouzmanoff (SD) (167)
B - Jay Bruce, OF (Cin) (187)
B - Justin Upton, OF (Ari) (207)

SP - Justin Verlander (Det) (47)
SP - Roy Halladay (Tor) (67)
RP - Bobby Jenks (CWS) (107)
RP - Francisco Cordero (Cin) (114)
P - Felix Hernandez (Sea) (87)
P - Rich Hill (ChC) (94)
P - Chad Cordero (Was) (147)
B - Jeremy Bonderman (Det) (154)
B - Brad Lidge (Phi) (174)
B - Jon Garland (LAA) (194)

Now with this team, I have plenty enough pitchers, so I'll probably end up dropping Jon Garland and trying to pick up a backup middle infielder, but other than that, I don't know how much help this team needs.

**edit: I did end up dropping Jon Garland, and picked up Ryan Theriot to fill my need for a back-up middle infielder.

So if any of you have any input on these teams, I'm all ears.

So anyone have any thoughts on the new and (hopefully) improved teams here? About the first team I posted here, I absolutely love my offense, especially after trading two of my bench players for a potential keeper in Corey Hart, plus another guy in return. I do have an overabundance of outfielders, I may try to move one to improve my pitching. If not, then I need to do it during the offseason, because if I can't keep all my outfielders and BJ Upton, since Upton won't qualify as a 2B anymore. But I can worry about that when the time comes.

Hard for me to judge given I've never been in a keeper league. For your ten-team league you certainly have a nice stable of relievers. You may need to trade one of them for another starter before the end of the season, especially given Halladay usually misses a month and Bonderman may or may not bounce back from his health issues last year. Everyday lineup is certainly pretty good, same with the 12-team league though you may wind up a little short in saves unless Saito gets hurt or demoted from the closer's role.

This is the first year we've done this keeper league, so I haven't had the chance to keep anyone yet. I'm trying to urge the rest of the league to up the number of keepers, I don't know if I really want to let some of those guys back into the draft pool 8)

As for Broxton, I picked him up for a couple reasons. Once most of the closers went (I wasn't about to start taking guys 3 or 4 rounds early just because I'm short in saves,) I turned my eyes toward the set-up men. I like Broxton for a couple reasons: Saito is getting up there in age (I think he's 38 now,) so not only will he need some days off this season, with Broxton getting those spot saves, but if Saito happens to go down (always a good possibility with older pitchers,) he's going to have to step in. Besides, instead of the >5 ERA and >1.5 WHIP that I would get with a guy like Joe Borowski, with Broxton I get a <3 ERA and a <1.3 WHIP, which really helps out the stats. Plus, closers are always losing their jobs, if it becomes a necessity, I can always nab someone in the middle of the season. Who really thinks Brandon Lyon is going to be Arizona's closer come Summer?

I'm gambling that I'll get the 10-1, 3.50 ERA Bonderman through July 13th, instead of the debacle that ensued.

I agree with you that the starting pitching may be a bit week, but I'm hopinng I can stream pitchers in and out to get me some spot starts with good matchups. Once I figure out who I'm dropping to make that spot start, I'll be good.

Pretty good teams. I don't know about Corey Hart. I have a feeling he wont get the same 20hrs this year. Just seems like a fluke kinda year. the back up OFers are just fine and it's a good young INF. I love youngins. Really nothing you can say about your pitchers. Love them all so with out injury should help you out a lot.

2nd team lots of the same players and like you said kinda stacked so can't really comment on that one. I'm hoping to pick up Kevin to play my UTL guy but waiting on an injured player to go to the DL first. He should be solid. 30+ hrs I think
