DO = David Ortiz? How many teams, and what are the scoring categories? Standard 5x5?

You have to keep 5, or you can keep up to 5? If you can keep less, I might recommend it. If you need 5, then you're looking at:

Reyes
Ortiz
Phillips
Guerrero
Santana

It's tough to say exactly what to take without knowing the stat categories, but in a vacuum, this is probably your best bet. You can switch out Phillips with Peavy/Haren, but I really, really hate the idea of keeping two pitchers, because you're really hurting your offense that way, and hitters are far more valuable than pitchers. Phillips may not go 30/30 (though it's possible, I'll add), but 20/20 from a middle infield is really good production, and that team will offer him plenty of runs and RBI opportunities. Guerrero's getting old, but if you have to keep 5, he's your best bet, he's worth holding onto for another year. Hopefully Ortiz and Guerrero can stay healthy here.

You have a good 1st rounder in Reyes and a 2nd rounder in Santana, but after that you're looking at a drop-off in production. It's not so bad you can't do anything with it, but you have to make sure you cover your weaknesses at the draft.

It is 5X5 categories.

I can see not taking Phillips, his numbers really aren't looking that good this year, he'll still be 20/20 at least but his ADP is too high for him.

Personally, I like Haren over Peavy, Peavy's been bitten by the injury bug lately, and he hasn't reached greatness yet, he's just very good. I have Haren a step above him, just remember if you keep Haren that he tends to tail off during the second half, so start shopping him come June/July.

Basically, what we need to figure out are what players that you have are in the top 60 (12 teams x 5 players.) On my list, that's Reyes, Santana, Ortiz, Vlad and Ellsbury (though I'm still making my sheets, and I haven't done any mocks yet). You do that, you'll have decent power (as long as they're healthy, and all indications show that they are), a top-3 pitcher and 100 steals right out the gate. Just something to think about.
