Draft Pick

How many teams/stat categories? Is it head-to-head or roto?

Was this a live or an autodraft? Unless you have a lot of teams (14-16 at least) and you drafted at the end of the round, I can't figure out who your #1 pick was. I'm guessing it was Berkman, and your second round pick was probably Longoria. The offense isn't bad, but your batting average and speed are pretty lacking.

I don't have John Buck on even my top 25 list of catchers. There has to be someone better than him that went undrafted. Chris Snyder maybe? Kurt Suzuki is better too. And if he went undrafted, I'd just take a flier on JR Towles, he won't be any worse than buck, and he has the potential to be a whole lot better.

I do like Hawpe this year, but I'm not big on having Wigginton in your starting lineup (unless like I mentioned earlier, it's a really deep league). And just so you don't get disappointed, I wouldn't expect anything more from Uggla than he did last year, and to be honest, he'll probably regress a little bit, I don't like his poor second half last season (.226/9 HR/33 RBI compared to .286/23 HR/59 RBI before the All Star Break.)

Your bench is kind of weak. I'm a Tigers fan. That said, Brandon Inge has no business being on any fantasy league, save for the deepest of the deep (and I mean really deep leagues. As in more than 400 players are drafted.) If he duplicates 2006, then sure, but that doesn't seem too unlikely. Hinske is probably going to be platooning with Brandon Moss, and according to the depth charts I've seen, Moss is ahead of him. You may not get more than 300 at bats from him, and there's a good chance he'll get fewer than that. I'm not a big fan of Jacobs either. He can jack some homers, but his batting average won't break .250. Hill is being undervalued this year, and he could contribute if he returns to his '07 form.

Now, your pitching isn't bad at all. Peavy still has to prove to me he's worth his average draft position. He's good, but he's yet to make the move to great. I like Lackey a lot this year, he could be your anchor, and he's being undervalued this year. Meche is solid, undervalued, he may not get you too many wins in KC but he's a real solid third starter. With Perez, you may be better off just spot starting him at the start of the season. He's either unhittable or he won't get out of the third inning, there really isn't any middle ground. I like Maine as a bit of a sleeper this year, if he can learn to throw more strikes. Maholm may not win many games, but he should be solid, too. Your relievers aren't bad. Don't expect perfection from Lidge, but he's still a top-5 closer. Hanrahan's a good, cheap source of saves. Joe Smith won't be closing, so if you're looking for a set-up man, look elsewhere. I dunno if you count holds or not, but you can get a better setup man who will get you better ERa and WHIP than he will.
