I'm seeking some trade advice.

Here are the details of the league: 10 team, FP, keeper league. My keepers are Utley, Santana, Teixeira, and Berkman. I will be drafting from the 9th position.

The guy that has the first pick in this years draft is offering me the first pick which in turn will be Joe Mauer in exchange for Berkman. In this proposed deal, I would also receive pick 140 (14th round) from the owner in exchange for my pick 152 (16th round).

Yay or nay? Thoughts?

I'd do it. As good as Berkman is, 1B is a deep position and you should be able to replace his production with some other bat. Mauer is head and shoulders the best option at C. Plus you already have Teixiera at first.

Do it. No brainer IMO. Include some lube in the trade as well, he'll need it.

Berkman is also eligible as on OFer too.

The fact that he is eligible at 2 positions makes it harder for me to deal him.

However, the thought of having the number one starting pitcher, second baseman, and catcher is enough to make Berkman expendable.

The guy that had Mauer is keeping Beltran, Reyes, Oswalt, and Zambrano.

....and he's a Cubs fan.

I would have kept Mauer over Oswalt.

Me too.

I kept thinking he would change at the last moment and he still could since we don't begin our draft til tomorrow. But I think he'll stick with what he has.

Between the position scarcity difference (c v. 1b/of) and age, you've got to do that. You'll have the best players at the two shallowest positions, the best SP and perhaps the 2nd best keeper 1b... all very young. You'll get OF no problem.

Great team if you do that deal.
