I'm assuming he won't fall to 42.

But:

Quote:
And Moustakas’s uncle Tom Robson used to be the hitting coach for the Mets.

Whenever Robson swung through Los Angeles for games against the Dodgers, Moustakas would work as the Mets’ batboy. He became such a good-luck charm for the team that Bobby Valentine, the former manager, once took Moustakas along to San Diego.

I read where he is supposed to be one of the two best HS position players in the draft with Vitters. Would love to have him but yeah he will not make it anywhere near 42.

I know.

Cute Met-related story, though....

Looks like the Royals will be snagging him with the 2nd overall pick.

That would be unfortunate.

If you're going to make a mistake, make it with pitching.

Tell me about it! They taken Butler, Gordon, and Moustakas 3 out of the last 4 years.

i don't know why anyone who follows these drafts closely would ever think that taking pitching is better than hitting early in the draft.

unless the pitcher is close to can't miss - See: Price

Hitters are a much better pick ... and are much more likely to reach their projection

Mets rarely go hitting early ... but when they do it pays off... David Wright is an allstar. And milledge will be a borderline allstar eventually.

Meanwhile the high end hitting prospects that the Mets passed over to take Pelfrey ... Jay Bruce and Cameron Maybin ... are monster in the making. I like Pelfrey but he is still trying to figure out how to throw an effective breaking pitch.
