As i said on the other thread .

Not everyone wants to play pro ball out of HS .. regardless ..

And if a lot of people see him as a first/second round talent when his run at Tulane is done ..

Why is he going to sign for 2-300k ? When in just a couple years he'll get 2-3 mil ?

Matt Harvey will end up the best college pitcher from the 2010 draft.

Playing sparingly, he's started out 2-10 with a homer and 2 RBIs.

For those who want to follow Bruno this summer. He's playing for the Vienna Senators of the Clark Griffith Collegiate Summer Baseball League.

He's off to a pretty good start. Thru 15 games he's hitting .333 with 5 HR's and 19 RBI.

3 years from now he's going to be Sam Honick, and we'll all be unhappy if the Mets draft him....

This is about 3 weeks old, but....

Quote:
Tulane first baseman Jamie Bruno, a sophomore, has voluntarily left the Green Wave program and has been given his release.

Tulane's athletic department says Bruno, a Mandeville High graduate, started 3 of the six games he appeared in this season, hitting .200 with four RBIs. He scored two runs and had two hits in 10 plate appearances.

College players who have dropped out of school can apply for the draft by writing the commissioner's office no later than March 20.

You think he beat that deadline?

Former Mandeville Skippers star Jamie Bruno is transferring from Tulane to LSU.

Bruno hit .229 with four home runs in 2009 for Tulane as a first baseman/designated hitter, appearing in 30 games while starting 16 for Rick Jones. He had just 10 at-bats in 2010, collecting two hits (one double). He will sit out a year before becoming eligible at LSU.

At Mandeville, Bruno was an All-District and All-St. Tammany Parish performer three times and was an All-State performer as a senior.

The 6'2, 210 pound Bruno was drafted in the 15th round by the New York Mets out of Mandeville but elected to attend Tulane.

Bruno is currently playing summer ball in Northwoods League for the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

I still remember all the hand-wringing that went on here when the Mets didn't sign Bradley Meyers who went on to have a mediocre college career.

On Tulane's 2010 baseball stats, Bruno is not even listed. Interesting omission.

Went from Tulane to LSU to Belhaven University, which seems to be a little Bible College.

It's starting to look like he might be one of the ones who got away....
