And there we have it, Matz signs for 895k per Keith Law
Personally I can't be any happier then what the Mets did yesterday, actually I am somewhat happily surprised, considering the Dotson signing as well. They had to get Matz signed imo, you don't let your first rounder go unless the demands are just beyond crazy, and his weren't from what I heard or read.

it is pretty crazy when you go by the slotting system for the draft. But since teams don't, I don't. And the fact that were the Mets, and he's our first pick in the draft, I thought that was a reasonable request when negotiating. And since he didn't get it, i guess it's all pointless now anyways.
He only wrote 3 paragraphs on Matz, copying the first below:
Quote:
Savannah starter Steven Matz impressed me greatly in Game 2, throwing mid-90s fastballs from the left side, while mixing in breaking pitches that showed plus and a changeup that looked to be average. Matz dialed it up to 97 while sitting 93-96, working both sides but especially up and out.

1 down, lets see how many more they get right in my eyes.
Seal of approval from "The Complainer" I just can't knock taking a lefty who throws low 90's, good frame, plus slider and local... plus "Lets go Matz" will be awesome! lol
As someone who was chanting that at Citi Field today, it sure was awesome.
