I give them a B+ and I'd like
Marquez (Reyes's clone!) Reed (who again I'd be shocked) Evans (I'd be very surprised) Robbins (I have a feeling this kid is going to be a steal) Ake (probably the least likely to sign) Cotton Gant

I give them an A-. Excellent job by the new front office. I agree with the group you mention above and would want to add in Mercado and Clapsaddie. I actually like Ake more than Evans. Definites would have to be Reed and Robbins.

I think Robbins is a steal too, Metro. I was looking at my BA Prospect Handbook for 2011, and Robbins is listed as the 54th best HS player in the nation........and we got him in the 20th round! His swing looks sweet as well, and it also seems like he has a solid throwing arm too.

I think Evans, Robbins and Marquez are the 3 "big money" guys you're really going to have a tough time grabbing. If they get 1 of those 3 (probably and preferably one of the first 2), thats not a bad job.
I read into MacDonald's words that they're fairly confident they're going to get the 10-13th rounders (thats Budgell, Montogomery, Matthews and Gsellman) signed up, and the 6th rounder apparently is already close to coming. If they didn't get Budgell, that wouldn't bother me much.
Of the rest of the guys beyond college upperclassmen, I'd like to see Jharrell Cotton, the Arizona 1B (who is a draft-eligible soph, so might be a little tough coming off a down power year if you don't pay him), the lefty Reed, the tall catcher from RI Diehl, one of the two SS's (Turgeon or Ake) and the Canadian LHP Jake Hansen.
I have a feeling only a handful of the guys taken today will be offered much of anything other than a chance to play professionally.
As far as grading the draft, thats tough. Its going to be one that makes the lower levels more fun to follow than they typically are, but its also going to be one that depends A LOT on how many of the tough signs you get. Its great to take those later chances, but you took chances early too, so theres not a ton for this class to fall back on if you don't deliver some of these "risky picks" into the system. I don't know if there is a single member of this class that goes to St. Lucie at any point next year, which is definitely a shift from years past (maybe a guy like Zurcher in the JB Brown role). So its going to take some time to evaluate, and see what they do. I think theres more star potential here than we've had in previous years. So thats good that they're taking the chances and trying to throw some of that in here. But I don't think you can tell me, gun to your head, who the 2nd biggest "impact" guy is in here, because theres a lot of uncertainty there too (and while Nimmo is, as we stand here in the immediate aftermath, obviously the number 1 guy, I don't think thats any sort of thing you'd bet big money on).
So we'll see. This will be a fun/frantic signing period.

As a Texas Tech Alumni and Met fan, I am all for Marquez signing a two sport deal... Football at Tech and baseball for the Mets.
He was slotted to play OF for Tech not SS. Real good athlete...outstanding runningback.
I'd take a Bo Jackson scenario.
Wins the Hiesman before becoming MVP of the All-Pro game and MLB All-Star game (w/the Mets)!!
Everyone's a happy!

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:
"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."
But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?
I love our draft. I'd grade it a straight A. A lot of high upside, athletic position players, solid strike throwing college pitchers, and high school arms with a lot of projection.
I'd like to see these hard-to-sign guys signed especially: Marquez, Robbins, Krenzel, Tuschak, Cotton, Reed, and Ake.
Robbins excites me the most because of his overall package and his potential as a hitter. He has a sweet swing.
I am not as bullish on Evans as some of the others here, but he does look like a good prospect and would be a great sign. But, if his demands get too crazy, I'd rather try and sign a couple others instead.
Marquez running down a ball in the gap or busting it out of the box will be must see TV if he ever signs. He could be the best overall athlete we drafted and really could develop some plus plus tools. Almost McCutchen like from the scouting video.
I have very high expectations for Krenzel. I think he was a great pick and believe we got him right before he is about to pop off. Line drive lefty stroke with better than average power potential. He has polish to his game already, and he is not finished developing by any means. I see a little Brett Wallace in him.
Of the other guys Travis Taijeron is a guy that should be easy to sign, but I think could do good things once in the organization. At the very least, he is a much more exciting organizational guy than most of the alternatives or past alternatives.
I haven't seen enough or read enough about the pitchers we drafted, but I trust the Mets judgement. The college pitchers did not seem to follow much of a pattern. But I do know that we drafted a bunch 6'2"+ high school guys with projection and that's good by me.

Well i was certainly happy with the direction of the draft as compared to previous years. We have all stressed taking some chances here and there in past years because it appeared the Mets didn't for the most part. Now the challenge becomes trying to make some of those chances into reality and have them sign.
