A bit disappointed we didn't sign him, but at the same time, it was probably never that realistic and I think you can seriously question if he was even a top 100 talent anyway.

Some players think higher of themselves than anyone else does of them.

All things considered, he was probably a 4th or 5th round pick and if it were not for the HS leverage thing, he would have gotten about 500k. He wanted more than double of that. Lets see how the next 3 years play out for him

Agreed.

This is what happens though when you draft so many HS kids .. you are going to whiff on some.

Selig must be just stewing right now with what happened last night. About 150 million given to top 100 picks.

Made the Louisville Slugger Freshman All American team.

Quote:
Robbins, a 6-2, 196 lb., left-handed pitcher/outfielder, was named to the team at Multiple Position Athlete. The Conference USA Freshman of The Year hit .330 with 11 doubles, 5 triples, 3 homers and 38 RBI. He started the season with an 18-game hitting streak and led the squad in multiple-hit games with 22 and added 10 multi-RBI contests.

He also emerged into the squad's Sunday starter in league play and posted a 1-0 with a 4.01 ERA and struck out 17 batters in 33 2/3 innings.

It would have been tough to sign all 3 out of Evans, Robbins and Marquez

Didn't Robbins turn down like 2nd round money? Or sandwich round money?

So let's not act like it was a screw up.

Not at all. I was just checking up on some of our tough signs from last year and noticed Robbins had a fantastic season. Regardless of Robbins (or Turgeon) not signing I still approve of the picks.

Looks like he's playing both ways.

Homered on Saturday, pitched 6 innings on Sunday.

The sad thing is that Robbins would probably be our best OF prospect right now.
