GREAT pick. Love it.

Really? Because I KNOW I wanted other people ahead of Dom Smith here.

Just thought it was funny when I read it...

He seems small for 1B. Do "experts" think he'll grow anymore?

I'm sure hell bulk up but most experts seem to believe height wise he's going to be a shortish 1b. Not a knock but he's likely not going to be much taller

Props on the good early comp MJ.

Casey (with a better glove) would be a fine return for a #11 pick. Better than average. Casey was a 16 war player and would have been over 20 without the -7 glove.

Casey had all of three years where he topped two wins, which is the generally accepted benchmark for what constitutes a tolerable everyday starter. It would be an extremely disappointing outcome if Dom turns into Sean Casey. James Loney would be better in some respects.

Where do all of the "good glove" stuffs come from on Dom, serious question? Is it simply because he's a lefty fielder with below average power for the position? Kinda like James Loney's rep/scouting reports coming up?

Clay Davenport has Dom as a -4 fielder this year, FYI.

For the love of god, lets stop trying to ascertain value from a 1Bman's defense. That is going to have so little impact on whether he makes it or not.

The write-ups on Dom all say plus glove. Good reflexes, great arm. His weight could hurt that some, but his plus glove has been mentioned numerous times. One year's ranking can be subject to a fair bit of error. dwar is a funky stat that way, the same player can show a huge variety year to year.

He has plus hands. The range is obviously not that but range is not incredibly important for a 1B.

This is where seeing him up in the majors will give an indication...Vegas is a notoriously bad field to play infield on.

We'll see how many errors he saves or how smart he is on infield plays.

The book on him also includes that he is a really bright kid.
