Like this pick a lot. With the four upside picks taken early, an outfielder that can reach the big club in the next few years is obviously helpful, and the value for the round looks good as well.

Sounds like he pick we have to be happy about in the 5th round. Could be a reasonably pick mover.
Better than the Matt Reynolds pick last year?
I think so. I liked Reynolds and wanted him in the 3rd or preferably 4th. Not happy when they took him so high.
I thought Reynolds had a ceiling of a utility guy that could hit: Think Joe McEwing with Matt Franco's bat.
I think King could be better.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:
"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."
But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

No. 13 Kansas State faces third-ranked Oregon State in a best-of-three series for the right to advance to the 2013 College World Series, Saturday through Monday, at Goss Stadium in Corvallis, Ore. MLB Draft insider:

New York Mets
Best Value: No. 146– Jared King / OF / Kansas State: I’ll just be blunt, there was no reason for King to fall this low, and when I see some of the names picked ahead of King I wonder if some teams don’t need to take a serious look at their scouting system.
