Not watching, but King is 2 for 4 with a double and a walk as K-State leads Oregon State in the 10th inning.

He doubled to lead off the 10th and scored on a single to center.

We could have used his bat in the 12th yesterday...

He's definitely a few clicks up from Reynolds, and though I've posted about the round-talent quotient, this is a better selection than Reynolds at similar places...

If he can stay in CF, it makes him that much better.

I meant send him to SAV upon signing.

Gotcha.

That's not going to happen though. He's a straight to Brooklyn guy, I'd think.

K-State got bombed last night, but Jared King went 1 for 2 with a homer and a walk before being pulled in the blowout.

Elimination game tonight on ESPNU.

yeah thats wrong.

was a second round talent

Why would a second round talent slip to the fifth unless...
A. He's a fifth round talent
B. he has significant signability issues
C. There are questions about talent or character...

I don't think it is B or C...

I think this was a good pick unless he is wanting second round money...I am hoping he signs for a bit less than slot.

Like Koch, I don't think it is prudent to allocate full slot dollars to college players in the first ten rounds...

I'll choose option D - fell a bit due to drafting strategies

We already know that teams including the Mets deploy strategies when drafting and aren't necessarily taking the best player available with every pick

This guy might have slipped a round or two because other teams (again including the Mets - LJ Mazzilli for example) took some strategic underslot picks.

Nor is Biondi. He's tweeted he's headed to BK. The roster is a pre-lim roster. They always make changes. Likely physical/paper work related. His friend asked if he would be seeing him in Florida and he said Brooklyn.

I've been watching video on him the past few days to see what I might have missed with him...
Thoughts are as follows:

1. Switch-hitting lefty throwers are rare...sort of cool.
2. His right-handed swing is better than his left...which should be.
3. Swing needs refinement through the zone...contact points are off.
4. Will likely advance quickly to St Lucie then struggle...
5. Not a good fielder, he'll have to work on that...no arm to speak of and average to a bit above speed.

I like him a bit more, but I think he was drafted in the right round. He could be fun to watch develop...seems like a hard worker.
