Get everyone signed from their Top 10 picks. Save some money somewhere and hopefully get some of the better guys signed from the rest. About all you can really say.

If we go by past years - current draft system only:

2012: 1-14 all signed (cept Stankiewicz where the pick was transfered to 2013
2013: 1-13 all signed, 15-18 all signed. 14th rounder returned for senior year.
2014: 1-20 all signed (18 was reportedly a tough sign gut they got him)

2012: 15-40, 9 college (if I counted right), 5 signed, 17 HS, 1 signed. 2012 the mets were still in deep financial doodoo, their 21 signed out of 40 was the lowest in baseball.

2013: 19-40, 9 college, 7 signed, 13 HS, 2 signed (Brosher and the great Dan Hermann)

2014: 21-40, 6 college, all signed, 14 HS, 3 signed (Horne, Berrios, Burdick). All told in 2014 the mets signed more HS'ers than any other team - a step in the right direction.

So the math is pretty simple. 1-13 or 14 are very likely.
14/15-20, High Schoolers are 50/50, college guys are likely.
21-40, HS are maybe 1 chance in 4, College guys remain likely.

with less money to spend and 39 picks, maybe they sign a higher percentage. Time will tell.

The only high school pitchers I'd really consider close to locks are Wotell, Szapucki, and Simon.

Then I'd hope to add two of Torres, Enright, McClanahan, Higginbotham, and Dodson.

Mets could have a steal in David Thompson. If Lindsay hits, excellent draft. If not, it's a miss. Find a way to sign Dodson.

I like to look at picks 11-13 cause those picks are usually signed and often overslots.

Jake Simon (#11) looks interesting and I don't think they take him at 11 without a good chance he's signed.

some fun picks this year.

I hope they're willing to go 5% over this year since they're not going to be paying a first round pick.

Has this FO hit on any of their overslots?

Phil Evans 2011 - massive no

Bashlor 2013 - massive no

Hermann 2014 - massive no

I don't think it's fair to judge Bashlor yet. He's been injured.

Herrmann was 2013 and I wouldn't consider $100,000 over massive. It's in the same class as guys like Chris Flexen and Brandon Brosher.

I forgot. Was Gsellman overslot? I know that was before the current system.

@hudsonbelinsky: I like their class! Not having a 1st rounder & getting Lindsay & Wotell is outstanding. Got solid values later, too.
