Let's hope Baltimore signs Gallardo.
I think it's pretty much a done deal at this point. Moves the Mets to 20, doesn't change #31.
If Baltimore signs Fowler too, that won't change anything for us. If the Whitesox sign Desmond, our #31 slides to #32 cause the Nats compensation pick goes ahead of us with Kendrick the only remaining compensation free agent.
20, 32, and I think, 64, 100. Not bad.
Fowler signing with Baltimore would move #31 up to #30.
Also, Kendrick signed with the Dodgers.
I realized my mistake on Kendrick.
But Fowler, only if they don't sign Gallardo, which I think is a given at this point.
When the O's sign Gallardo they give up #14, our #21 slides forward our 31 doesn't.
If they also sign Fowler, they give up their 2nd round pick and the cubs gain a pick after our #31, so none of our picks move. Now if Gallardo falls through, then it's different, but I'm assuming Gallardo signs with the O's.

If they sign Gallardo AND Fowler, they lose both their original first round pick AND the pick they got as compensation for Chen. The Chen pick comes before the Murphy pick.
Gallardo signing with Baltimore moves our first pick up 1. Fowler signing with Baltimore moves the Murphy pick up 1.

I don't think that's how it works. They only give up their picks by round, they keep their compensation picks.

That is how it works. The only question is whether or not the compensation picks gained by the Rangers (Gallardo) and the Cubs (Fowler) would fall in front of or behind Murphy. I'm not sure how that's determined. I believe there is some ranking of the FAs that determines the compensation order but I don't know what that is.

It's based off the record of the team losing the player. Same as the regular order. So we'd pick after the Rangers and before the Cubs.

So 21 goes to 20 but 31 stays at 31 if the Rangers sandwich pick slots ahead of the Murphy comp pick.

I looked and you two are right. O's would lose #14 and #29 if they sign those 2 QO guys. That's a little gutsy.
If they don't sign either guy they have a pretty good number of draft picks in 2016
#14, #29 (for Chen), 54 (regular 2nd rounder), 69 (for not signing last year's 2nd rounder) and 76, competitive balance B. That's 5 picks in the first day, that's pretty solid. They still have 3 2nd round picks even with losing the first 2. I tend to love draft picks so that's a tough call for me, especially for 2 relatively mediocre players. Still props to them for trying to be competitive. That's what the game's supposed to be about, not farm systems.
