Oh, I totally get that. (Any word on any seniors drafted the last couple years in the first round and what they got paid? - that would be interesting to look up, but I don't know if it's conveniently listed anywhere)

But I still see a situation where he might not like what the mets offer and return to school. I'm not saying that's definite, but I wouldn't be shocked if he goes unsigned. I'm in the kind of 2/1 they work something out and he signs, but I'd give it a 1/3 chance he doesn't.

He would be dumb not to sign. That coach pitches him into the ground.

How's the 2017 draft outlook right now? If Kay doesn't sign and (God forbid) both Cespedes and Walker walk (no pun intended), the Mets could end up with a truly massive draft budget next year.

There are plenty of accolades I would accept, but the "Big Draft Budget" award is one I'd rather not.

Also - we're not going to offer Walker a QO barring a big second half.

I can see them definitely offering QO especially with the poor crop next year

So it looks like 1-19 signed, 21-24 signed. So 1 out of top 24 not signed.

There were a few players who took less money this year accepting the QO. I think some borderline players might accept the 1 year deal vs the longer shorter contract. I'm not saying NYM shouldn't offer the QO, but there's a chance he accepts it, and wisely so.

If you were Daniel Murphy would you rather have 1-16 or 3-30? Or 1-16 vs 2-20. Some of these contracts turned out kind of ugly. I think MLB has to ease up on the penalty for free agent signings.

$82,801 over. First time the Mets have gone over since slot system went into effect.

There's still 1 more day to put another cherry on the cake.

on Planck's money, $1,000,001, with 82,801 over, there's a 75% penalty on the 82K, so, if you account the overage to him, which seems fair, the Mets paid 1,062,101.75 to sign him.

There's no cherry coming.
