With the draft tomorrow, though this won't affect day 1 at all and perhaps day 2 not very much, a look at rosters and openings.

Brooklyn

C: Brosher / (Dionis Rodriguez / Darryl Knight).

1B: I've got nothing.

2B: Dale Burdick (?)

3B: Walter Rasquin (He could also be Kingsport, GCL last year)

SS: Yeffrey de Aza (like Rasquin, could be Kingsport)

OF is more filled out. Lindsay, Ramirez, Berrios, Zabala.

- - -

There's definitely some room for infield spots and I think the mets likely draft a college first baseman somewhere in their top 14-15 picks to start in Brooklyn. Room for a catcher if they see a college guy the like.

= = = = =

Kingsport:

C: Ali Sanchez, Darryl Knight. (Sanchez might have the upside for Brooklyn but why rush him. I'll bet he's in Columbia for 2017 though.)

1B: ??? sorry, I've got nothing again. Victor Moscote played for GCL last year but he wasn't very good, hitting .191

2B: Franklin Correa

SS?
3B?

OF: Ricardo Cespedes, Kenneth Bautista (two youngsters. Both are young enough to repeat GCL and neither hit well last year, but I think these 2 end up in Kingsport anyway.) Jose Medina (maybe).

- - -

Lots of holes in this lineup. I may be overlooking one or two, but I see a number of openings for later round college picks or Junior college picks. Maybe the mets aggressively promote some older players from DSL last year

= = = = =

GCL (copied from an earlier post)

C: Uriarte / Carlos Sanchez (Uriarte could be interesting, and we have 2 catchers named Sanchez)
1B: Luis Montero (meh)
2B: Angel Manzanarez
SS: Pedro Ventura
3B: Kenny Hernandez (million dollar signing)
Also, 20 year old Rigoberto Terrazas but he could open in Kingsport.

LF - Gabriel Jimenez (who might open in Kingsport).
CF - Ranfy Adon
RF - Wagner Lagrange (who might open in Kingsport)

The kingsport suggestions are based on age.

The biggest hole seems to be first base, but if the mets want to draft too many catchers they can always play the extra catchers there. Obviously there's some 15 or 20 guys who played in lower levels for the mets last year not listed above, but nobody who stood out to me, taking a brief look.

- - -

not sure if I'll do pitching or not. So many names to keep track off.

if I missed anyone, corrections welcome.

Longer partial rosters here if anyone wants to improve on my silliness: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_ ... rs#Short_A

Did you forget Carpio, did I miss him in your post, or did something happen to him that I don't know about?

*NM, just googled him and found out that he had surgery and will miss the season....great.

Brooklyn got their 1st baseman and presumably cleanup hitter. Peter Alonso (everyone's going to call him Pete, right? it's baseball, names are always shortened).

and probably 2 starting pitchers depending on how things go and how many innings they've already thrown. They could be a fun team to watch this year.

Dunn and Kay will be in BK but I doubt they are in the rotation. The Mets seemingly never have the college arms throw many innings. Last year Conlon threw 17, Prevost/Wieck were allowed to throw 19 and 25.2. Dunn might make "a start" but odds are he and Kay throw no more than 20-25 total innings.

BK OF of Ramirez/Lindsay/Berrios could/should be fun, Ali Sanchez + most/all 6 early picks #Mets

Brooklyn needs to keep 1B and 3B clear for Duda and Wright's rehab assignments.

So, GCL - no change.

Brooklyn

C: Brosher, maybe Ali Sanchez / (Dionis Rodriguez / Darryl Knight) - 4 is too many, so time will tell.

1B: Alonso
2B: Paez
SS: Woodmansee
3B: Tiberi

Bench/Utility: Walter Rasquin, maybe Dale Burdick

OF Lindsay, Ramirez, Berrios, Zabala, maybe Cone. My guess is Cone goes to KP due to crowding.

- - -

Kingsport:

C: Darryl Knight (and one maybe 2 from the 4 above in Brooklyn). Sanchez is a tough call for me.

1B: I've still got nothing.
2B: Franklin Correa
SS: Yeffre de Aza
3B: Rigoberto Terrazas (?)

OF: Ricardo Cespedes, Kenneth Bautista, Cone? I think Cone starts here rather than fight for spots in Brooklyn. Jose Medina?
Gabriel Jimenez and/or Wagner Lagrange have a shot at OF based on age. Both guys were DSL last year.

- - -

Brooklyn looks pretty complete. Kingsport could still plug a few holes on day 3.
