George Kirby, Rye — If we’re talking which player has the most potential to excel at the next level, the senior right-hander is your man. He was the only player from Westchester or Putnam to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, going in the 32nd round to the Mets on Saturday. Scouts love his projectability, with an easy, fluid delivery and a fastball that sits in the low-90s. No pitcher in the area was as dominant as the Section 1 pitcher of the year, who finished 6-0 with a 0.32 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 73 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings. The only knock on Kirby is that his team didn’t go as far as some others on this list and he didn’t contribute with the bat as much as guys like Capra and Drpich. But you won’t find a more valuable arm.

College baseball daily ranked Kirby #53 in their prospect countdown for '19, and apparently much higher by some of the other publications.
I'll be intrigued to catch some of his starts this year. Good soph year, real good Cape in limited usage, and nice upside.... I think the ranking may be a little rich just based on the fact he has proven a bit hittable during his short career, but well worth keeping an eye on.
Elon RHP George Kirby was excellent on Saturday afternoon. The junior struck out 10 in 6.2 innings with a mid-90s fastball and a wicked slider. Here are the finishing pitches of all 10 of his strikeouts.
