383k + the +/- on Peterson + 310,624 in <5% overage money (this would come with a 75% tax, I believe)

Wow that's crazy this day in the draft era. Havent looked at their draft in a while bUT do seem to remember not seeing much areas of savings. Anyone know if it was physical related or mismanagement of funds

Most definitely the former. Not signing him wouldn't help the latter.

The Rasmussen stuff seems very strange. This is the #31 pick? #32 next year in a deep draft?

To keep that #32 pick the Jays need to only offer Rasmussen 40% of the slot value this year. Most teams would think a #32 pick is worth that in cash value easy. The Jays much feel that if they made that lowest possible offer he'd accept and they wouldn't get the pick either way That's the only way that not offering makes sense.

So Rasmussen doesn't want to return to school, the Jays jut feel that he's not worth signing even to the point where they could low ball him and have money left over to spend elsewhere (not sure there's anyone in their 40 picks worth spending on, but there usually is).

But the only way it makes sense to me is that Rasmussen doesn't want to return to school, he wants a payday. The Jays don't think he's worth it.

Peterson is, so far as I can tell, kind of the opposite. He might be OK risking is payday to return to school, but, we'll have to wait and see what happens. It's also possible that there's a failed physical with Peterson too, but we'll have to wait for the details. The news has been remarkably silent on him. Not even a Boras/Conforto "don't worry he will sign" tweet from his agent. Just dead silence.

*Rays

And the issue here is pretty clearly that his arm is shot. Money isn't the issue.

Yes. Still expect all six 1st-rders (Greene, Bukauskas, Peterson, Kendall, Romero, Lange) to sign. @MLBDraft

And then there were 4.

Astros sign Bukauskas.

Jim Callis reporting unsigned 4th round Orioles pick Jack Conlon will be an unrestricted free agent.
