The Rasmussen stuff seems very strange. This is the #31 pick? #32 next year in a deep draft?

To keep that #32 pick the Jays need to only offer Rasmussen 40% of the slot value this year. Most teams would think a #32 pick is worth that in cash value easy. The Jays much feel that if they made that lowest possible offer he'd accept and they wouldn't get the pick either way That's the only way that not offering makes sense.

So Rasmussen doesn't want to return to school, the Jays jut feel that he's not worth signing even to the point where they could low ball him and have money left over to spend elsewhere (not sure there's anyone in their 40 picks worth spending on, but there usually is).

But the only way it makes sense to me is that Rasmussen doesn't want to return to school, he wants a payday. The Jays don't think he's worth it.

Peterson is, so far as I can tell, kind of the opposite. He might be OK risking is payday to return to school, but, we'll have to wait and see what happens. It's also possible that there's a failed physical with Peterson too, but we'll have to wait for the details. The news has been remarkably silent on him. Not even a Boras/Conforto "don't worry he will sign" tweet from his agent. Just dead silence.

Next year draft suppose to be deep?

Next year's draft should be good. Not sure what the experts have started posting about it, but I think the prep pitching class should be deep, and the collegiate pitching class could be REALLY good. Then ya got some interesting headliner college bats in beer, baker, and madrigal.

That's what's being said about it. I personally have no clue.

I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018). I know an underdog when I see one.

Yeah, I'm going off of what Metro posted that the Mets said when discussing Vientos' negotiations.

They said it was a good draft. No idea if true, but it's way too early to really tell anyway.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?
