Overused in college. Hard slider/cutter.

Recipe for arm troubles.

Probably another underslot.

Well it's not like the Mets don't have any experience with that

Dibrell is a talented arm and good value here but he's been incredibly overused in college. Reguarly throws 120+ pitches.

Could be a power reliever though.

The BP guy wrote up a report on him during a 9 IP, 145p outing.

That's almost criminal overuse. It baffles me that any college coach thinks this is a good idea.

Gets him a good, full scouting report (I'm guessing the BP guy wasn't there by himself) and he got picked in the 4th round. Seems like the kid did OK anyway.

This is a nice pick. While there are other guys out there I may have gone with, if the Mets saw him on one of his days that were "on" and think they can get that out of him with more regularity, thats pretty impressive. This guy is a starter all the way, and while nobody likes to see guys abused, do keep in mind its not like he threw those pitchers on a five day rotation. At least we know he's got endurance and strength, and the stuff could easily tick up over 90-110 pitch stints as he continues to get stronger. Again, I'm def goin starter.... although piggybacking starts with someone else in Brooklyn to wind down his season would probably be the way I go.

I don't know why, but I really like this pick.

I like this pick too. my favorite pick of the day. I like picks 3-5 more than last year's 3-5 and the consensus was that they got good value, if somewhat boring last year, rounds 3-5.

I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018). I know an underdog when I see one.

“Athletic” and “projectable” are scouting buzzwords more often thrown around in conversations about prep arms, but scouts often apply them to Dibrell too. He’s progressed each year that he’s been at Kennesaw State, and he’s become the ace of the Owls’ staff as a junior. Dibrell’s velocity has fluctuated throughout the season, but he’s reached the mid-90s late in some starts, and his plus arm speed points to further velocity gains. He’s thrown two breaking balls in the past—he’s shown an in-betweener this spring with sharp 11-to-5 shape—it projects as an average or slightly better pitch. His changeup could be his best offspeed weapon, with some scouts grading it as a future plus offering. Dibrell has been used a lot this season, eclipsing the 120-pitch mark often, especially for a pitcher of his age. He’s a projection play with a chance to make it as a starter and the whip-quick arm to have an impact out of the bullpen if he ultimately needs to move there.

Dibrell's stuff has been inconsistent this spring but at times he has been up to 96 with a plus changeup. At others he's sitting 88-92 with no command, so scouts' opinions of him are dictated by when they've seen him.

This is per Longenhagen. Not a shocker given how he's been used.

And....I wonder why they picked THAT comp...????

So....given the First Law of Baseball Comps I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this guy is black.

Wow, fancy that, I was right.

Doesn't use his lower half. He's all arm. They'll look to adjust that once he signs. He looks a bit like Stroman.

Other than the overuse, this is encouraging.
