Wilson had the arm and untapped power.

Ivan Wilson (with different tools), part deux?

Not to be snarky, but with vast physical differences and admittedly different tools, what then becomes the basis for a comparison?

Odd combination skill-set...that's the basis. Arm-speed in this case.

Ivan Wilson was a physical specimen with light tower power and killer athleticism and couldn't put the bat on the ball. I don't think thats really an odd skill set.

This guy is a speedster with a cannon who doesn't really know how to hit.

I just don't see it, man. I could say "This sort of reminds me of Dan Hermann, because he didn't know how to pitch, and this guy doesn't really know how to hit, but they were both HS picks of the Mets" but that would be a weird analogy.

Wilson had enough speed to get the "5-tool" moniker and to stick in CF. People who saw him thought he had the stuff for Center. How fast that makes him, I'm not sure, but Wilson probably had some speed.

This kid Schneider, however, seems blazing fast.

Ivan was fast, but this kid flies. Ivan's best asset was his power, and he just couldn't wait to show it off and it sabotaged his chances of allowing his other tools to work for him. This guy swings hard, but the quick blurbs point to a guy who understands his complete athletic makeup is his moneymaker, and if he takes to coaching then his floor should be much more Champ than Ivan.

This kid sounds like Champ Stuart.

Jim Callis reporting Schneider signed for $125K. So the Mets still have $148K in their bonus pool.

Not enough to get one of the other guys, who I think are basically unsignable.

Wow. Didn't expect him to sign for slot. Mets haven't overpaid anybody this draft.
