And maybe you are right that madrigal isn't connected to those others I mentioned, but if that's the case (and I disagree completely), then you are saying the ages-old practice of comping young players to previous ones is pointless.

Making comparisons is fine if that is all you are doing. I probably misunderstood what you said. I am merely saying that Madrigal's results will be his doing not anyone else's. To the extent that smaller guys are getting more opportunities bc of the success Altuve has had, that's probably true. But in the end he will have to produce.

McCalahan has only one start with less then 2 walks he clearly has dominant stuff but isn't pro ready as other college starters.

#55 is a local kid I have known his grandma for years and went to school with his aunt. Small world and he is a big riser with added velocity. St John's commit would be an awesome story if Mets took a local kid in the second or third.

Apparently Turk Wendell's kid is a prospect: https://theathletic.com/316003/2018/04/16/gammons-like-father-like-son-for-turk-wendell-and-wyatt-who-is-preparing-for-the-mlb-draft/.

This kid is the epitome of risk/reward, and I think a touch too high currently. I won't complain if we grab him, but I have him behind Mize, Liberatore, Stewart, and Hankins (if velocity continues to stabilize after the potential elbow scare).

McClanahan possibly sliding out of the top 5, I'd still think they won't pass him up at 6. I'm assuming he's still the pick.

I would tend to agree but don't know if I like it.

A lot goin on with that list that will be debated more over the next month, but for now I think it's safe to say the prepsters are starting to push the college guys down the list, which was expected. The part that wasn't expected is that so many of the top-tier prep guys from the last year are also falling. Some great value to be had, and the Royals might be in position to just take (and afford) the entire Vanderbilt class.

The possibility of landing Liberatore is just going to get my hopes up for the next six weeks.
