We have a larger majority of women on this site than most any other sports team specific message board on the internet. There are mothers and daughters, wives and girlfriends of both users and players participating in the discussions on NYFS. What you post is a direct refection of the values of NYFS. If we allow you to post chauvenistic/mysogenistic/stalkeristic comments then we are not upholding the very value system that this site was created upon.

One of the best things about NYFS is that for the most part, there is a level of respect that we can't find anywhere else. We can come here and be crazy mets fans without hiding behind our user names and trying to appear as men so that we can be respected as knowledgeable fans. We can come here and know that we won't be disrespected, or "abused" because of our gender, race or sexual orientation. Universally, men and women alike know they can surf NYFS at work and not be worried that their boss will walk in when they've gotten to the thread that has pictures of jessica alba or Biel naked. We can feel comfortable knowing that our own mothers, daughters or girl friends can tool around the site and they won't come across something that is insanely violent or obnoxious towards women. There aren't that many sites out there like this, unless we go to the suzy-home-maker sites.

It is understood that there is a camaraderie in every gender specific community. There is a behavior that is acceptable between groups of men and likewise between groups of women. When the groups come together, this behavior changes out of respect for the other. This is not a gender specific community and for the most part, there is a great respect between the gender lines here. There are a few, though, that are towing the line and beginning to alienate others (women and men) in the community. These have to stop. Just like the avatars of women in lingerie, chauvenistic/mysogenistic/stalkeristic comments are inappropriate, and in no way shape or form respect the members of this community. The values of NYFS dictate that we respect all users, no matter the race, gender, sexual orientation or even nationality.

General Off Topic is not any more lax on the rules than any other forum on these boards. The purpose of GOT is to discuss "non-sports-related" topics. Generalized comments about anyone of a different gender, race or sexual orientation are not acceptable. Often times they are inaccurate, chauvinistic, and lead to bigotry within the community. They create discomfort and alienate members of our community.

Its fair to let you know that we will not allow these types of threads or posts to go on any longer.

As we've stated many times in the past, we all understand that the NYFS community is not for everyone. But our standards and the way we moderate is an integral part of how we do business here. So while we encourage you to take advantage of our resources here, it's also imperative that you understand the ways we run the site.

Rule of thumb: preview your post before hitting submit. If what you've said would make you furious if someone posted this about your mother or your sister, then don't post it - realize that it will offend someone.

Thank you,
Rachel

I used to be a member of a mets fan site that I won't name ,but it went the way of Dodge City. That site has become a sewer where the games were replaced by daily contests amongst the posters on who was the crudest. I got sick of that site and I quit going there about a year ago.

Thanks, NYFS. You try to run a classy ship.

I think I know the site. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't been sued yet with the way they continually let their moderators use private member information for their own amusement. Just throw out all the guidelines over there when you sign up, they mean nothing to them. The owner is no better. If you try and mention a problem to him he immediately gets defensive and thinks your part of some conspiracy against his site.

To Nurse Calli,
Is my Daily Show thread considered too offensive? I tried to trim it down for a little ambiguity.

If they wanted it to be common knowledge, they'd probably let it be known.

And I'm kind of glad about that.
