to see these people so happy, gives me much hope about a transformed Middle East
the majority of the people there want a democracy and freedom and its going to be a long road but i think this is the start of something great for Egypt and for the rest of the Middle East.
Social media, a more open society, a more connected world is the greatest way to create a permanent, more positive and more free world. All praise The Zuck!

Ironically, Facebook and Google (not having them) is probably one of the biggest single reasons for why these young Egyptians were so unhappy. Gotta love the internets.

I think they'd be better off to go without democracy for twenty years or so and rock a Lee Kuan Yew style benevolent dictatorship. Economic progress should be paramount for Egypt, and countries tend not to pull themselves out of poverty through democratic rule. In a democracy the temptation is too great to grab as much as possible while in power because you don't know how long you'll be in power. Follow Korea, follow Taiwan, follow Malaysia and Singapore.
