Wow, I can't believe the hype on this guy. He's a good athlete, very aggressive, a fun to watch college player. But an NBA prospect? No way. Sites have him as a mid 1st round pick. Compared to Dwight Hardy, for me, it's a no-brainer. And Hardy doesn't even show up in top 100 prospect lists.

He's a great story and has tremendous range. He's JJ Redick to me.

I don't see this at all. I see a lot of 8 for 23 shooting nights on his ledger. He needs the ball a lot more than Redick does, yet he's not good enough to run the point in the NBA. He's more of an Omar Cook/Sebastian Telfair type when I see him.

I see Jameer Nelson when I watch Jimmer. Maybe less of a point guard, but Jameer ain't much of a point guard either.

Jimmer is a very efficient player. He gets 1.42 points per shot this year, he is shooting 40.3% from three, he has a .541 adjusted field goal percentage, and he is averaging 27.5 points per game. So while he takes a lot of shots, he makes a lot of shots.

He can carve out a really good career in the NBA as a shooter who can handle the point guard position for brief periods of time. I am a believer. By no means an All-Star, but could be a very useful player.

I think the Nelson comp is an excellent one as far as Fredette's ceiling, but I think he'll fall far short of it.

Cook had no jump shot and Telfair's isn't much better. Don't really see the comp. Reddick sounds about right. I think of Fredette more in the Steve Kerr or maybe a William Avery mold. At the very best (ceiling) he's a poor man's Jason Terry.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

Fredette is a better athelte than Reddick. His times on drills were some of the best in the draft camp. He will be able to penetrate in the NBA and if he can still drill them he will be a better threat than Reddick, Cook, Telfair and certainly Hardy.

Ain't no hype like Glens Falls hype.

Actually high school basketball has a pretty solid foundation in Upstate NY but add the whole BYU/Mormon connection, the silly name, and he gets elevated.
