And, as he notes, it's ridiculously easy to find the tape

The latest is their manufacture of a "controversy" of Common being invited to the White House along with some other poets.

Here's a link to a report with two videos from The Daily Show

Fox News hates black people.

But really... Common? Crazy.

I try to watch cable news in general, and I usually can't take it. There's just no real thinking going on - it's all selling panic, fear, voyeurism, or a very specific side of an issue. The only things I can take are the regular news hours on CNN or Fox for very short periods. Any "show" on those channels with a "star pundit" just gets ridiculous.

It does seem as if it's becoming more and more of a circus.

I have to say that I have a lot of respect for Shepard Smith's work on Fox.

Fareed Zakaria's GPS on CNN is one of the most informative news shows on cable, IMO. I think one of the keys to that is that he has guests who are genuine experts chosen for their knowledge more than their ability to generate controversy.

Ah... it's the old "both sides do it" defense.

It's not just the Fox News pundit shows that have been spewing the Common nonsense - Fox News's "regular news" shows have as well. The Fox propaganda machine coordinates all of its programming to make sure its loyal viewers know exactly what they're supposed to think.

Fareed Zakaria is also exceptionally intelligent and made his mark in print prior to shifting to the screen, unlike most pundits who couldn't write a column to save their lives and get by largely on the strength of personality.

We all know Fox isn't fair and balanced. But to claim that MSNBC and everything on CNN is fair and balanced is just not true. I watched 5 minutes of Hardball with Chris Matthews where the entire conversation consisted of GLOATING that Obama got Bin Laden and Bush didn't, and then also a segue into a conversation where it was agreed upon that Bush didn't get Bin Laden on purpose because all he cared about was starting a war with Saddam that his father didn't finish. Basically, pure opinion is passed off as obvious fact - and this is true for most news orgs these days, especially cable news.

I see you ignored my whole point about Fox News's "regular news" shows. Leaked Fox News memos have shown that Fox News's "regular news" shows are instructed by the network's news editors to present conservative talking points as the news.

Hardball is a talk show, not the news. You're going to invite theories like Matthews's when the world discovers that your stated reasons for the war turn out to be a bunch of propagandistic lies.

Likening MSNBC and CNN to Fox News as though they're at some equal, yet opposite, ends of the spectrum is a laughable, preposterous absurdity.

Yeah, Roger Aisles being a media consultant to Nixon, Reagan, and Bush I pretty much says it all.

Thanks for presenting facts and a good argument instead of just throwing away my post without any sort of attempt at productive discussion. *sarcasm*
