Not sure if we have any veterans on here. However, I just wanted to thank all veterans of every war or conflict our nation has ever been involved in. I spent my first Memorial Day in Washington D.C. today where I visited Arlington National Cemetery. While it is always hard to absorb the impact and feelings that such a hallowed place invoke, I found myself completely overwhelmed today. Each marker had a flower placed upon it by the groundstaff, while the Changing of the Guard and Wreath Laying Ceremonies brought tears to the eye. It is perhaps the most sacred land in our country, with only the USS Arizona and Ground Zero (as a former NYer) invoking the same feelings in me.

I just thought this would be a good time while we reflect on a beautiful late Spring day to reflect on this day an all who have served and will serve. Also, if you would like, share your experiences as well.

I missed this thread until now, but I echo your sentiments.

To visit a military cemetery or something like the Vietnam Memorial and realize that every marker or every name represents a person who gave their life is truly overwhelming.
