Just horrific.

I woke up this am as a UCONN alum feeling bad with the idea of reaching out to some old friends to discuss, by noon I was reaching out to some for other reasons making sure they and their friends and family were ok.

Waiting to hear from Tej, I believe he lives in Danbury Conn.

Just a sick sick story. I remember being stung by the Columbine shootings in '99. This right here is just..... just rediculous..

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

I grew up in the Danbury area and it's impossible to enter the working world there and not get to know someone from Newtown.

I guess it's time to reconsider the notion of "it could never happen there" but Newtown is one of those places where you're tempted to say that.

It's a bedroom community with houses that go back to the Revolutionary War era and lots of old family farms, many of which have been turned into housing developments.

It's the kind of town where you'd want to raise a family

I am not religious and I don't pray, but tonight is different. In times of such horror I talk it over with the God I don't believe in. I'll pray for the departed and hope like heck someone is taking note of this up there. Tell me there will be some good to come of this.

The poor children, my goodness, the poor children.

I broke down in tears watching it yesteday and immediately called my brother who lives in Danbury as well. He has a 4 year old and a 9 year old. The only thing me and my family friends yesterday were talking about was this tragedy. Some may say the killer got off easy, he wont now that hes dead. I hope he went out in a very painful way. Still no justice and a town that will be devastated for a very long time. Im not a parent in the sense that I havent had a kid of my own, but I raised my little sister for her first 13 years of her life, I wouldnt be able to get over it if something happened to her. I pray for those who were affected.

Isn't that the places it always happens at?

Just so so so sad :(

As a special education teacher in a K-2 self contained classroom I could only imagine this happening. An elementary school is a supposed to be a great place to be in, a safe haven. Those poor children and their families. I definitely would have taken a bullet to save some of my students lives. That's how much I care for them.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I'd do anything to protect my students. I just keep getting hit by this deep sadness, like, what if those had been my kids? As a teacher, what would I have done? I can't imagine such a thing.
