So...just post random stuff that you are thinking about. Should hopefully get some activity in the Off Topic forum.

Random thoughts:

Has the internet made us much more intelligent as a species?

Or are we simultaneously weakening other facilities that were commodious and
pragmatic in past generations?

Has the creation of sports served as the diversion it was intended to be in centuries past?

Does anyone freaking out over Time Warner not carrying CBS realize that most sets have a built in antenna and they could get CBS with no more than two clicks on their remote?

Why doesn't MTV air music videos anymore?

And isn't MTV airing reality shows the equivelant of the Home Shopping Network airing old country westerns?

Top 5 rappers post Pac and Biggie?

Top 5 rappers pre Pac and Biggie?

Is Jon Stewart back?

Will another rock genre succeed post grunge and nurock?

Or has it been too long already and it's a dying genre?

But wasn't Rap a dying genre pre "Hip-hop"?

Does anyone watch stand up comedy anymore or is that a dying form of entertainment?

Best movie line ever?

Is Conan O'Brien back or is his show still being aired on Weird Al's UHF channel?

What happened to Ed's "Zombie Hack Wilson" avatar?

Are the Mets being cautious because of Zombie Hack Wilson's super-2 status?

How many people will read this thread, 50-100 or well over 100?

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

I liked Zombie Hack Wilson, but I think it might be bad luck....it turns out Hack Wilson's dead.

I think it's funny that the internet was touted for all the high-minded things it would do. And it's achieved a lot of those things.

But people being people have also adapted it as a means to do things like watch and sell stuff like porn.

Or just do innocuous things to goof off at work. Basically turned the internet into a playground

I was thinking about how it's so much harder to be the expert in something. Before the internet, if you knew a lot about something, people would call you, or be like _____ knows a ton about Mets stats, or Greek mythology, and now you just Google it. That made me kinda sad.

If your set has a built in antenna (most sets made the past 3-5 years do) click on "input" and switch from HDMI or component (cable) to TV. Then press "2".

If it doesn't come up right away just connect a 2 dollar antenna and move the antenna to the nearest window.

Now this also depends on how far you are from NYC as well as where in your house the TV has been placed. But also, of course, if your set has the antenna built in.

Personally, I was late to the show for the reasons in your last 2 sentences.

In the mid 90's I had little interest in buying a PC or surfing the net because I thought all people where doing was playing games all day and sending emails rather than picking up a phone. I had no idea there was much more than that although to be fair it wasn't nearly as information filled as it's become.

Ironically, it was sports message boards like this one that got me hooked. I was sick of listening to people call up WFAN not having a clue what they were talking about or waiting on hold for an hour to talk to a radio host. Boards like this where exactly what I wanted as far as discussing teams and sharing opinions and information on sports teams.
