Don't you see how far you've been sucked into their shell game? Everybody look, don't pay taxes, oh I'm paying way too much, oh I should have more money and I don't because my taxes are too high. Oh let's vote for him because he won't raise taxes, let's not vote for him because he will...

Well, folks, the pea is not that we pay so much, it's that we get so little for our money.

I don't believe I have been sucked into any game. My lawyer and my accountants don't believe we have been sucked into any game. Anyone involved in making real money in this great economy doesn't believe they have been sucked into a game but thanks for the insult.

Sure you have, we all have. Do you really think you are getting good value for your money?

I don't know about dougdilg, but I tend to recognize the dow reaching record highs, and maintaining them, as a key sign of economic prosperity. But that's just me..... and the rest of rational thinking America.

The least you could do is not post this in the Stickied thread about reasonable thread behavior and respect. Goodbye.

That's if you equate the dow's figure with economic prosperity, most people think of prosperity as a more encompassing definition. But that has absolutely nothing to do with my post about taxes so why are you referencing me?

Well, federal taxes are historically low. I live in a high state and local tax area, but that's my choice. When I further my career, I will move to a lower cost of living area.

My issue with taxes is the amount of waste that is built into the budget. Also, the fact that our government spends much more than it takes in.

tonight for the first time I read this as "Manny's unilateral Political Thread"

Based on his phrase "you make your own destination" I think Mannyfest Destination could be a very good political strategy for the next admin.

It would be a great thread!

Kick it of Dale K!

FWIW, it's almost impossible to have a thread that has absolutely nothing offensive in it at all when discussing the things that have been discussed. As long as people don't take it too personally, it's fine. Anyone ever had a conversation between mature adults about politics or religion (with people coming at it from vastly different viewpoints) that doesn't include at least one "that's stupid" or "you are being hypocritical and costing yourself credibility?" Certainly there is a line that can be crossed (and the other thread might have crossed it), but sometimes little things are unavoidable. I know I respect pretty much every poster on here, so even if little things are said in the heat of battle, they aren't personal.

I'm sad to see a thread that had a lot of interesting and quality back and forth be locked because of one silly comment, basically. Things can be removed/asked to be reworded very easily.

I know there is a lesson in here somewhere.

:-k

As long as each person puts it upon themselves not the be that silly comment, the thread will not get locked.

How is this fair to everyone else in the thread, though?

Precisely.
