We've received confirmation that the discussions for pitcher Danny Haren have stalled. When we asked our source what "stalled" meant in terms of future possibilities, we were told, "it's dead." Apparently the A's will not budge off of Heilman, Milledge and Mike Carp for Haren, a move the Mets feel isn't a viable option for them.

Well, if that was the major, major thing they were talking about, looks like they've already admitted it's not happening.

i'm a fan of mike carp

but you have to do that deal!!!

no pelfrey or humber involved? wow!

i then would sign zito

and then trade ollie perez for relief help (linebrink+)

zito, haren, glav, elduque, maine

linebrink, sanchez, wagner in the bullpen

I'm glad Omar is sticking to his guns on that one...it is a very tempting deal, but Carp is already intriguing, and Billy Beane wanting him makes me want to keep him even more.

If the Mets lose out on Zito, then I think maybe you revisit this deal in order to get the front line guy you need. For the next 2 years, the Mets will have the better end of the deal, but long term Milledge and Carp could make it look pretty bad.

It's really hard to walk away from that one, but its probably for the best.

Milledge/Carp/Heilman for Haren, talk about a heist for the A's.

Heilman easily could be a league average starter, plus he gets a grade A prospect and a young prospect with a bunch of upside.

So this guy's really getting a lot of things right. Some of the details tend to be shaky, but he calls things official, says WHEN they'll be announced, and it usually happens. Very interesting...

yeah, I mean with any guy who has "sources" sometimes they're right and sometimes they're wrong. But at least for right now he has legit sources who clearly have good info more often than not. This has now become a site I'll frequent more often.

well, he certainly thinks the ets are going to announce Zito as a Met nxt week...here's to hoping he's right!

D-Wright and Rick Peterson driving the welcome wagon, good choices I think.

Yep, this guy is gaining a lot of credibility. Pettitte to the Yanks was kinda obvious, but he said exactly WHEN it was gonna be announced, as he has with many other things.
