I am pretty sure that we would have had a lot of bad baseball ahead WITH him.
Would anyone be averse to moving this to general baseball? I think the officialness of him wearing Orange and black and teal and those other Miami colors makes him a former Met.

Is Mark Buehrle rated higher than Reyes? Still hoping we get that 2nd rounder.

He's a Type B so it's all kosher right now.

Ozzie and twitter. This will not end well.
TO be honest, there's no way Loria/Samson and Ozzie end well. The men for whom Joe Girardi is too opinionated?
It's very strange, the whole thing.
Reyes' contract is pretty much exactly like the 4 year deal that Delgado signed with The fish before 2005. I mean, I really don't understand how he can think that the Marlins are so in love with him with no NTC and the backload.
Also this 'the Mets didn't want me' stuff -- it really rubs me wrong, but Reyes is very emo so I figured he'd say this.
The Mets were told no in-season negotiations. They were also not given an answer when asked how much of an offer would it take to sign Reyes during the exclusive negotiation window.
I feel a little sorry for Jose in some ways. He's always seemed to be a sweet kid, and I don't know that he's allowing himself to look at any possible hidden motives for the Marlins.
But, c'est la vie. I think the Mets always did really well by him -- tried to make sense of his extensive and confounding, at times, leg issues and always stood behind him publicly. That a player this injured could be so beloved is due in large part to Jose being so magnetic, but also to an organization that didn't tolerate hints being dropped about being 'soft.'
Sure. Wilpon spoke ill-advisedly to NY magazine this year, but I thought they made a really good home base for Jose. Jose is a unique talent, but has presented a lot of frustration at times. I don't think that he will get nearly as much quarter from fans where he is brought in as the big ticket item.
I'd have signed Jose for 6/106 as a Met fan. But had he put this 8 year stretch up with another club, I don't think I'd be thrilled today if the Mets were bringing him in on this deal. It's a double-standard and illogical, I freely admit. But that's just my point of view as a fantatic.
I need to repaint that bobblehead, though. What number does Valdespin wear?
I'm glad Reyes had that interview. Now, I think we can all move on.
What people neglect to mention is that in Jose limelight as being "the most exciting player in baseball", he played on a team with Mike Piazza, David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Johan Santana...you get the point. Fans will be expecting a lot from him, and he might deliver to them the same way he delivered to us the second half of 2007.
"3. The Cardinals simply decided a long time ago that they never had any intention of re-signing Pujols and allowing him to retire as a local treasure, but opted for image purposes to put up a carefully constructed facade of a "negotiation" to mislead Cardinals fans into believing an earnest pursuit of Pujols was going on.
I am leaning hard toward No. 3. This entire episode feels too much like a long, dragged-out bogus courtship. Imagine DeWitt, using his best inside voice and whispering in a windstorm — "Hey Albert … come … back" — then shrugging his shoulders with a sheepish grin and telling us "I guess he didn't hear me."
Yeah, I guess not, because DeWitt and Mozeliak had so many chances to get Pujols' name on a new deal over the past two years, yet dragged their feet and allowed him to get away. They could have re-signed him two years ago before they re-signed Matt Holliday, but they decided instead to position themselves for his eventual departure."

Now if we can only get rid of the Wilpons and replaced them with Mark Cuban the STO master plan can be complete!
