Hamels deliberately threw at Bryce Harper claiming it was "how he was brought up in the game; an old school traditional way." This is a load of crap to me. As Prospectus mentioned in the IGT, he was all over Reyes for his dances/handshakes. This makes Hamels come off as real bush league and a petty thug. This "welcome to the majors" stuff comes from a rookies team, and you just know the Nats are giving it to Harper. It's not like Harper has been immature since being up here such as last season when he blew a kiss to a pitcher. This season, he has been a model citizen and by all accounts has matured greatly over the past year. Hamels simply beamed Harper because he did not like him and probably because he thinks he does not deserve the hype he has gotten. Petty.

Yeah pretty dumb. And why talk about it?

I view Harper as more a throwback than Hamels. Hamels would fold like a chair in a brawl.

Somebody is jealous.

He did a far better job of establishing that he was an idiot than he did of establishing that he was old school.

Don't like that this whole ordeal made me like Harper. Thanks a lot, Cole.

I don't like the tradition of throwing AT batters. Throwing inside is great. Trying to hit someone is reckless and pointless.

I'm more or less okay with it if a guy has done something to deserve it, i.e. intentionally spiking an infielder with a slide or showboating to a ridiculous degree after knocking one out. That said, I haven't seen any of that from Harper, and Hamels seemed to be throwing at him because he has been hyped.

I am against throwing at players completely...the only times I understand it (again I don't condone it ever....throwing inside does roughly the same thing) is except on a spiking, or after someone on your team has been beaned.

This was neither...bad show, Hamels
