Probably going to need one for these next few days.

The Rays, who entered the weekend up 1 game on Cleveland and 2 on Texas with 7 wins in a row, have lost two straight while the Indians (winners of 9 in a row) and Rangers (6 wins in a row) have kept up their winning ways, leading to the Indians to have 1 game lead on the Rangers and Rays, both of whom are tied for the 2nd wild card spot. Bill Chastain of MLB.com lays out the possibilities:
Quote:
If the Rays win what could be a make-or-break game on Sunday in Toronto against the Blue Jays, they can't yet be eliminated from postseason contention. A three-way AL Wild Card tie at the end of play on Sunday would require two tiebreaker games, the first of which would take place between the Rays and Indians in Cleveland on Monday. The loser of that game would head to Arlington to play the Rangers on Tuesday to determine who would oppose Monday's winner in Wednesday's AL Wild Card Game. If the Rangers and Indians lose on Sunday and the Rays win, finishing the day in a tie with Cleveland, no tiebreaker would be necessary; Tampa Bay would host Cleveland for the Wild Card Game. If all three contenders play to the same result on Sunday, the Rays and Rangers would play a one-game tiebreaker in Arlington, based on Texas' four wins in the seven-game season series between the two clubs.

I'm totally pulling for the tiebreaker games to be involved, preferably the 3-way tie/3 game outcome, just because. But either way, tomorrow should be nuts. Here are the probable pitching matchups:

Rays (@ Blue Jays, 1pm ET): Matt Moore vs Todd Redmond
Indians (@ Twins, 2pm ET): Ubaldo Jimenez vs Scott Diamond
Rangers (vs Angels, 3pm ET): Yu Darvish vs Jason Vargas

Indians are in the Wild Card Game and they'll face the winner of Game 163: Rays/Rangers tomorrow night in Texas.

Pitching matchup is David Price vs Martin Perez. Definitely taking the Rays as well.

That was more of a personal preference than a prediction, but that's the guy you would want up there. Who goes Wednesday if they win? Archer?

Not sure, but Cobb would be the #2 guy I'd want out there.

I know Salazar will be Cleveland's starter. I don't think many people realize how good he is. Nice spotlight for him.

It's definitely going to be a big spotlight for a guy with only 10 starts and 52 innings under his belt.

Solid game so far but umps just blew a big call. Delmon Young hit a liner to CF that was clearly trapped by Martin. Umps ruled it a catch. Cost the Rays at least one run and what could have been an even bigger inning.

People should recognize. WHIP, Ks, and ERA. When he gets the IP, he goes beast.

2nd highest strikeout percentage among starters with at least 50 IP, highest swinging strike percentage. Excellent power arm, routinely sits 95+. Just so much stuff to like there.

Alex Cobb is officially the Rays' starter, which is cool, because he's very good and deserves recognition too. Looking forward to this game.
