This was said in Spring Training after months of vitriol spewed by both parties:

Bronson Arroyo sez hi.

Not gonna give him up.

Not gonna give up the idea that Capuano or Maholm, who project similarly if not better than Arroyo for ~20% of the cost, are wiser alternatives.

It'll be a battle to the death.

Just watch, all three will fall flat on their face or get hurt and Mike Pelfrey shall emerge as the golden hey-he-could-be-a-solid-league-average-starter signing of 2014.

In an update (no, this has NOTHING to do with Arroyo coming off a complete game or anything): http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?p ... ,8678,5203

- Arroyo leads the fWAR leaderboard among the 4 mentioned above plus Colon, because why not

- Capuano has been turned into a reliever, so its unlikely he'll be able to make a comeback this year

- Maholm and Pelfrey have been dreadful and likely close to losing rotation spots, each with more walks than Ks

- Colon has actually eaten more innings (pun INTENDED) than noted innings munching Arroyo. Of course, in a cruel twist, Arroyo has been more effective than the usually short outing but effective Colon. The world has turned upside down.

LONG LIVE ARROYO.

Remove Capuano since he's been a reliever. Add in the guy I wanted, Scott Kazmir.

Arroyo rocking a 118 ERA- (18th worst among qualified starters), 115 FIP- (20th worst) as of today and needed a cortisone shot in his elbow last week. He's the man, though.

Capuano dumped by Sox.

Maholm still employed but worst fWAR of any pitcher in game min. 50 innings.

It gets better.

Bronson Arroyo now needs TJ.
